I woke up from hearing a loud shriek ringing through my ears and ran out my room yelling for Shoto since I had recognized his voice immediately when I heard it.
I ran to the kitchen and went it as I saw my mother was holding him while crying and I looked at him holding his face, his left eye and crying with her too. She was yelling loudly and he was crying for help and the kettle with boiling water splashed all over the floor.
I ran over to my mother in tears asking her what happened and she held me and both Shoto in her arms until my father stormed in and so did my big sister and brother.

A few days passed from the incident, Shoto got a bandage around his left side and became more and more quiet until I heard him yell at father that it was his fault that mother had gone out of hand. I sat on my bed, balled and held my thighs as I cried my eyes out, knowing that 2 people I cherished in my life are now gone...

And for the longest time ever, I finally knew what it means to be alone.
