My first topic would be about defining the term "A teenager"....

I mean like seriously guys, have you ever thought what does 'teenager' means? Or what does the stage of being a teen consists of?!

Being a teenager means having fun, going wild, partying, drinking, rebelling, 'living while you're young' and not giving a care to the whole world!

Being a teenager means that no one understands you and everyone is against you! You are right, and the whole world is wrong!

It means that you deserve to act wild and not give a care! It means that you can just forget your prayers for a while because 'hey am still young!' and one of the very famous quotes is 'am still young, when I become 20 I will do so and so..."

Well guess what?! All of the above are WRONG!! Yes you heard me, they are all wrong!

If they were right don't you think Allah SWT or the Prophet SAW would have told us about them? Or even the sahabah?!

Well you will tell me time changed, and none of what we have now was at the times of the companions... but my sisters and brothers, time changed, but Islam didn't!

Teen is just a word that was made to excuse someone's reckless actions! It was stuffed into our mind so we can defend our reckless actions!

-Why are you out at this time?

-let me live a little!

-Why aren't you doing so and so (praying, wearing Hijab, reading Quran constantly....)

-I am still young, I still have time!

Well guess what fella; you can die in any minute and in any state!

I am not telling you this because I am better than you, No! Wallahi guys, the same words were said to me when I became reckless... and I was given examples about young companions that achieved great things... I will narrate 5 short stories about those young sahabah....

1st one:

He was a ten year old companion (RA) and he was one of the first sahabah to enter Islam... I guess you knew him.

He is Ali Bin Abi Taleb (RA) the Prophet's SAW cousin... he was one of the first three people who entered Islam (Abu Baker, Khadija and Ali, May Allah be please with them all).... He never thought that he was too young to carry such a heavy weight! He never once thought that when Islam was still a secret and was going to be fought that he should stay away and let the elders make a decision!

No! instead he thought deeply and knew that Islam was right, so he went against everyone's will and entered Islam... he stuck with his cousin though everyone were against him, were against what was right....

This shows how mature Ali Bin Abi Taleb RA was at the age of TEN!!

2nd one:

Osama Bin Zaid

Osama RA was one of the youngest leaders in history! He was barely 18 when the Prophet peace be upon him gave him the position of a military leader!

He was called the 'love or beloved of the prophet'

When the Prophet SAW first made him an army commander, sahabah were shocked and had exclamations, so they asked the Prophet to assign someone who is older than him, so the prophet was angry and said

"What is wrong with folks dispraising that I assigned Osama to lead the army. Wallahi, he is a worthy for this commanding or leadership, and he is one of the beloved people to me! So treat him good because he is one the best among you.... (This isn't the exact translation; I did the translation part... so here is the Arabic one:

" ما بال أقوام يقدحون في أن وليت أسامة على الجيش وأيم الله أن كان للإمرة لخليق وانه لمن أحب الناس إليّ فاستوصوا به خيراً فانه من خياركم"

And SubhanAllah! Not only was he the youngest leader ever, but he was able to win against Romans after the prophet SAW died and Abu Baker RA kept him in his position as a leader

3rd one:

Amru Bin Salama RA

He was barely six or seven years when he was leading his people in Salah! They chose him as an imam because he was the one with the greatest knowledge in Qur'an!!

SubhanAllah!! He was barely seven when he led people in prayer! Now we barely find kids who are seven who pray!! And let alone memorize or recite the Holy Qur'an!

Look at us!! How many verses of Qur'an have you recited?! We are at the ages of 13 to 18, and what?! Look at us?! What have we done to our Ummah?!

4th ones:

They were two young sahabah, Moath Bin Amru Bin Aljamooh and Moath Bin Afraa معاذ بن عمرو بن الجموح ومعاذ بن عفراء رضي الله عنهما

They were the sahabah who killed Abo Jahel!! They went to jihad and were fearless and above all killed abo Jahel!

And many other young sahabah went to jihad and they were barely twelve!

5th one:

Zaid Bin Thabet RA

He was the sahabi that the prophet assigned him in learning the Jewish language so that he can read their letters and write them back, and indeed he learned the language in 15 DAYS!! ONLY FIFTEEN!

We take years and years to learns a new language!!! But look at him

Ma shaa Allah! After that he was the one who would translate the letters to the prophet SAW and write back his responds!

-----

You see!! They were barely at our age and made amazing accomplishments! And look at us now?! What have we done for Islam?? What have we done for our nation? What have we done for our own selves!!

So in my opinion, a 'teenager' isn't but a word to describe a certain age, like an old man and a young man, a teenager describes an age, but not maturity!!
