کانٹوں کو کس نے یاد کیا
ہم کانٹوں سے محبت کرتے ہیں
کیونکہ پھول نے ہمیں برباد کیا.

Afaaf

" Afaaf, please. Listen to me once." The man said from behind me but I didn't dare turn around.

Because I feared, feared that when I'd turn around he'd be there, standing on the cliff under the dark blanket of night and when I'd turn to confess he'd surprise me by sending me back to my father. I feared turning around to look at him.

I was a step away from the door already pulling out the keys of the door when a hand clasped around my wrist, making the keys to fall on the ground. My teeth clenching together as he pulled at my hand.

" Go away!" I breathed. Seeing his eyes flash with pain.

" Just tell me the name and I'll leave." He said with pleading eyes.

" No, it's none of your business, Zaryaab Alam Khan." I grit out with angry tears streaming down my eyes.

Glancing down at the fallen keys on the ground, I wretched my hand out of his hold and moved away. I slightly leaned forward to get the keys and the long chaddar from my shoulders slipped. My hands stopped midway and I stood up straight. My eyes had widened.

And when I flickered my eyes to man, he was frozen on his spot. His eyes fixed on the baby bump that was now visible because of the chaddar not covering over it.

My hands trembled as I ran them over my shirt and then draped the chaddar again and moved back seeing the man look up at me. His eyes widening more and his lips parting open. The colour draining from his face.

" Afaaf-" he choked.

My knees weakened and I pressed my back to the main door to support myself. He picked up the keys and moved towards me with an animalistic speed that I had time no time to register what was happening. His hands cupped the back of my head and he pulled me to himself. His familiar scent surrounded me and I breathed him in. The embrace so soothing that I could even die in that moment.

When the dizziness cleared from my mind, I pushed him away seeing pain fall over his features.

" Stay away."

" He did this to you." He announced running a finger down my cheek and I gulped harshly.

A car slowed down near the gates and I tilted my head seeing my parents getting down the car. Mama rushed to my side and pulled me to her. Her hands unlocking the door.

Abba stood before Zaryaab Alam Khan and glared at him.

" You should leave now." He said harshly.

And I gulped yet again. My heart racing in my chest. Protests gathering on the tip of my tongue.

" I have to talk to her." He said, his eyes moving to look at me.
