Afaaf

A gasp of surprise left my lips seeing the email. My heart filling with joy, reading the approval letter before my eyes. I had applied for an internship in a company in Dubai by the help of a university friend as she was already working there. And had emailed them all details even about the pregnancy. The woman who I had emailed had only send her reply now.

And her approval meant so much to me. She had written that I could join them now and even if I wanted to do so after the pregnancy. The residence and all basic facilitation was being provided and more than that she wanted me to work as a worker on job and not on internship, seeming impressed by the sample work I had sent to her.

I thanked Allah, reading the email again. Things were becoming easy for me. Now I had to inform my parents and confirm again from my doctor. Shutting down the laptop, I leaned against the cushions. Although, I had  asked her on my last appointment and she said it was safe to travel as long as my vitals were in check.

And I sighed out loudly. I knew what decisions I was taking. Changing my life. Taking a three sixty degree turn that would make me a whole new person. And i was scared, but I had faith that everything would turn out as I wished. It wasn't going to be easy and I'll face a lot of problems. The realisation was like a boulder on my shoulder that I knew I wasn't strong. But I was going to be a mother, my child would look upto me.

I had to be strong.

I remember leaving the house and running away because for once I wanted to live my life my way but it turned out the other way. This time I'll live like the way I want.

Shaya entered the room, her college bag slinging on her shoulder.

" God! I can't wait to be out of that place!" She exclaimed throwing away her bag and plopping on the bed.

Point number one - Shaya hated her university.

Point number two - she now loved her profession.

" I think I need a vacation after graduation." She pouted.

Point number three - she was graduating in a week.

I smiled at her. She frowned my way and stood up before marching over to me. The doctor in her placed a hand against my cheeks and then against the skin of my forehead.

" You look pale, are you okay?"

" No, I am fine." I said, running a hand through my hair.

She clicked her tongue.

" Are you sure, cause I feel as if you are extremely weak!"

She moved away and I sighed. My second trimester had started off very badly with a lot of nausea and dizziness. And not to forget back cramps.

" Yes. I am okay. Just a lot of tired." I spoke braiding my hair.

" I can only imagine. Want me to bring dinner for you upstairs?" She asked and my eyes twinkled as I nodded my head.
