Hermione walked through the halls with Draco, patrolling as needed. She listened to the sound of harsh rain outside and Draco's light footsteps.

"We have an hour or so left," she informed quietly, walking past the haunted crevice in the wall. She stopped abruptly.

Draco noticed she had stopped, and looked at her with a confused face. He noticed she had begun to mutter to it, so he listened.

"I'm so sorry, Freddie," she gently told it, looking into it. "I miss you everyday. Please remember me. I love you too, and always will. Don't forget me." She was crying by now. "I still hear you like I did in fifth year. You were my first love, and I'm sorry I didn't save you. Remember that fly around the forest? I loved that. Don't forget it. Wait for me. I promise I'll see you again. Until next time. I love you." She put her head on the wall, her salty tears wetting it. "Goodbye for now."

Draco approached her quietly. He grabbed her wrist, pulling her away and into his chest and hugging her tightly. "Granger, I'm so sorry."

"It's okay, Draco. It's hard to move on." She laughed. "Imagine the racket he's making seeing this."

Draco gave a small chuckle, looking down at her. "I'm sure he's enjoying the show."

Hermione nodded, a sniffle escaping. Draco pulled back and looked at her face. He wiped her tears away, accidentally grabbing her chin as he did so.

In the warmth of the moment, he gently brought his lips to hers. It wasn't long. It wasn't harsh.

It was short. And sweet.

He pulled back, realizing what he did. "Hermione, I'm so sorry."

"No," she replied in a whisper, looking at his lips, then his eyes. "Don't be."

He got the signal and kissed her again, hugging her to him with one hand, holding her face in the other. Not short, not lustful.

But long. And tender. And comforting.
