Draco sipped at his whiskey, staring down at the counter. His mind was in a thousand other places, the synapses firing like gunshots in his head. He heard a happy giggle from across the bar.

As he looked up, a familiar face met his eyes. Hermione didn't glance at him, but sat smiling at the tall dirty blond she sat with. His green eyes met hers with love shining in them. She looked... happy.

He thought back on their relationship. The hard times he put her through that caused their breakup. How much he loved her, even after they had to abandon it. He wanted to go see her again, feel her loving embrace. But he didn't. He stayed still with the ghost of a smile on his face. He promised himself there that he wouldn't take it personally. She just had to move on.

"She looks happier," he mumbled, smiling at the sight of her. He knew he would feel it again, just not when. Until then, he smiled to hide his feelings. I know I was happier with you, he thought, standing up and placing a galleon by his empty glass.

Hermione glanced away from her fiance for a split second, and a mop of hair caught her eye. They stood tall and proud, setting a galleon by their drink. When they turned around, she saw his face. Butterflies erupted in her stomach, but she pushed them down.

Her eyes caught Draco's, so she softly smiled at him. He looked at her for a second, as if debating on what to do. He chose to nod, a smile gracing his face. Hermione watched him walk out, his black blazer easily molding into the night sky.

"Hermione?" Mac, her fiance, asked. She tore her gaze away from the window, looking back at him. "Who was that, love?"

Hermione smiled at him, letting Draco's memory overtake her one more time. "Just an old friend of mine."
