as she walked down the aisle, her hands were still shaking and her lip was quivering. she kept looking at hopper, which made her feel 10 times better. he was smiling the most she's ever seen him smile. and she's known him almost his whole life.

a million thoughts were running through her head. was she really doing this? was this really happening? she honestly thought she was in a dream and she was going to wake up from it soon. nothing seemed real. she never imagined her life could be this happy.

whenever she was upset, she kept trying to tell herself that everything happens for a reason, even though she didn't really believe it. but now she did. everything that ever happened in her life led up to this moment. everything fell right into place.

(a/n: i don't really know the whole opening thing they say at weddings but i found this online lol. also i am christian so this is just by going from what i'm used to haha)

the marriage officiant smiled at them both and began his speech.

"you may all be seated. dearly beloved. we are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony as they begin their journey as husband and wife. your vows, please."hopper and joyce both got out their papers with their vows written on it. hopper looked at the paper for a moment. suddenly, he ripped the paper up. the whole place went silent. he grabbed joyce by the hands. he wanted to speak from the heart.

"joyce byers.

it is absolutely impossible to describe you. it is absolutely impossible to describe how amazing you are. you're unlike anyone i've ever met. ever since i first laid eyes on you, i knew you were special. you're the most powerful woman i have ever met. you are superwoman. you're an incredible mother, the way you love our kids is beyond words. everything you do is for your kids. and even if she isn't yours, you are an incredible mother to el. she loves you so much. you welcomed her with such caring arms, and you mean so much to her. i never thought anyone could have such a kind heart as you do. you're an incredible person, and you're always thinking of other people before yourself. you always want other people to be happy over you. that's one of my most favorite things about you. you are the sweetest person i've ever known. and the strongest. gosh, i don't even know how you are so strong. i don't even know how you have a smile on your face every single day. but even if something puts you down and made you feel devastated, miserable, and terrified all wrapped in one, confusing emotion, you always overcame it. you always know how to rise above it. you always know what to do and how to do it. you are so brave. i could never be like you. i love everything about you. every little detail. you are the most beautiful human being on the planet. when i look at you, i see love, grace, beauty, and kindness. thank you for being the best friend, girlfriend, and future wife anybody could ask for. i want every single second of the rest of my life to be spent with you. i love you joyce byers. so goddamn much."

joyce looked at him with tears swelling up in her eyes. she took her paper and crumbled it up. she wanted to speak from the heart too.

"jim hopper.

oh where do i begin. you have seen me at my worst, at my best, and even in between. i can't thank you enough for everything you've done for me. for all the sacrifices you made for me and my family. if it weren't for you, will wouldn't be here. el wouldn't be here. and i probably wouldn't be either. words can't describe how much i love you. i will never stop loving you. you are my person. my rock. my soulmate. you always have been. life has sure been a roller coaster, especially in these past few years. but i always knew that you were right by my side. i always knew i could count on you. when i lost you, i lost myself. i felt numb all the time and if i'm being really honest, i didn't really want to live anymore. the only thing that was keeping me living was my kids. our kids. i always knew that i should've confessed my feelings towards you when i had the chance, and when you came back, i did not wait a second in doing so. i could not lose you again.you helped me through the darkest time of my life. i always knew that if i needed a shoulder to cry on, or somebody to talk to, it would be you. whenever i needed help, my mind automatically went to you. whenever i heard the word friend, my mind automatically went to you. i didn't know what a friend was until i met you. i didn't think a friend would ever come into my life. and not only were you my first friend, you were my first love. the day you beat up alexis lopez because she was bullying me, was the day i truly saw who you were. you're kind, you're brave, you're strong; you are the most incredible person i could've ever imagined to spend the rest of my life with. the day that you got down on one knee, my whole life changed within a second. i had always imagined that moment, but i didn't know if it would ever happen. and now it has happened. and here we are. and i will never be able to begin to express how grateful i am for that. i love you so much jim hopper. so goddamn much." she said, smiling at him with a laugh. hopper had tears running down his face. he smiled back.

hop walked over to will and jonathon.

"jonathon and will byers.

i hope you both know that i love your mother very, very much. and i love both of you very, very much. i will always be there for you whenever you need me. i will support you both for the rest of your lives. i never had a father growing up, i know that we have that in common. i know how hard it is. i care for both of you so much. i will always attend every event, and we can always have father and son days; just the three of us. i'll always try to give you the best advice i can, and i will always keep you safe. i will never let anything bad happen to you. i promise to always love your mother with all my heart, and always care for her. i promise i will never stop loving her and you."

will and jonathon gave hopper a big hug and smiled at him. "thank you." jonathon whispered.el slowly walked over to joyce.

"jane hopper." joyce began.

"when i tell your dad that i want to love him forever, i want to love you forever too. you are the bravest and strongest girl i have ever met. i will always support you in whatever you do. i will never be your birth mother, but i will care for you and love you unconditionally. i love watching star wars while eating ice cream straight out of the cup with you. i love laughing with you, your laugh is so contagious. there is no one else in this world i would rather laugh with. you are the daughter i never had but always wanted. you mean so much to me and i am so honored that i've gotten to be apart of your life through this past few years. i will always be honest to you, i will always keep you safe and help you whenever you need me, i will always hug you whenever you need it, and i promise to always care for you and your dad forever. i love you more than you will ever know, sweetheart."

el burst into tears and gave joyce the biggest hug. "i love you, mom." she whispered in joyce's ear as she hugged her tightly. they finally released the hug. joyce looked into el's eyes. "i love you too, honey." joyce said smiling and wiping away el's tears.

"james michael hopper, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife, to live together, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?" asked the marriage officiant.

"i do."

"and do you, joyce laura horowitz byers, take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband, to live together in peace, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?"

"i do."

the officiant smiled. "i know pronounce you husband and wife. you may kiss the-"

but before he could even finish his sentence, joyce and hop were already kissing. everyone was standing up and clapping so hard. jonathon, will, and el were all crying. "come on you guys!" joyce shouted, gesturing for them to come to her and hop. all three of them rushed up to their parents for a group hug.

the five of them totally forgot other people were on earth for a spilt second. everything felt perfect in this moment. so right. everything felt like nothing could go wrong.
