As the final whistle blew, I hunched over and cried. This was it. I had heard the talks, rumors, and we had the meeting that this was my last chance to prove I still had something left, since my broken leg injury, and we lost. No goals, hardly any opportunities, this was their final straw. It was the last game of the season and we weren't even going to the post-season. I wiped my tears, and I saw my teammates looking at their captain with worried eyes. They knew it was time. I looked around Providence Park one last time, I waived to the Riveters one last time, and walked through the tunnel. Nobody was in the locker room, yet. I walked over to my locker and saw a paper sitting there. I opened the envelope sitting there with my name on it. I opened it and read that 'The Portland Thorns were excited to have you on their team, but now is no longer the time. We are saddened to inform you that you have been waived from the Portland Thorns.'  I was about to cry when the doors to the locker room opened and the girls walked in. I took off my jersey and didn't even bother to shower. I pulled on my regular clothes and stuffed all my belonging into my bag. I took out the letter I had wrote to the girls when I found out this was my last chance. I got up from my locker, took out my name plate and placed it at the bottom of my locker. At this point I felt eyes on me, I knew they were staring at me. I got the letter in my hands and placed it on the table in the middle of the locker room and left. I went to my car and drove to my apartment. The tears were coming hard. I got to the parking garage, and pulled my car into its parking spot. Once I got to my apartment, I shut the door and just let the tears roll. All I could think to myself was am I seriously washed up at 24 years old? I got up and went to my room, and took a shower. Once I was in comfortable clothes, i started to pack. I started with my clothes, then went over to do the rest of my stuff. By the time of 2 a.m. I was completely packed. I got on my phone and texted a friend of mine seeing if she could pick me up from the airport. She agreed and I lugged my luggage down to the lobby. I walked up to the guy at the front desk. I gave him a manila folder with my car key in it and apartment key. I wrote my name on the folder and told him to give it to Lindsey Horan. He nodded and I left. I called an uber to take my to the airport. After about 3 minuets an Uber appeared and I got in and we drove to the airport. I checked into my flight that was in an hour. I got my boarding pass and checked my bags in for my long awaited flight. My phone kept going off and it was the girls asking if I was okay. I texted them back saying I was fine, and I was going back home. Even tho I don't know my birth parents, there was always one place where I felt at home.
