A New Beginning

new club, new chapter

It had been a couple weeks since the USA and Canada games. We had gotten knocked out of the champions league by Atletico Madrid. My contract with Barcelona was up, they offered me an extra year, but I declined. Currently I was sitting in the Barcelona airport ready to board a flight to my new location, my next club. My DNA test came back, I am part American and Australian. Which meant I could play for the USA but I chose to stick with the team that gave me an opportunity. I heard our flight called, "Come on. Our flight was called." I nudge the girl next to me. We get up and start to head off to the plane. My phone goes off with a notification. "Today FC Barcelona has announced that Arin Summers will not renew her contract with the club." to a new chapter.

Emily and I touched down in London. We went straight to our new apartment. I heard a loud thump that came from upstairs. "Babe, are you okay?" "Yeah im fine just dropped my suitcase." she says and I just chuckle to myself. I heard the front door open and saw two friendly faces walk in. "Steph! Lyd! Ahh ive missed you guys so much!" I say as I embrace my two teammates, and now roommates. "We've missed you too Sum!" Emily greets the other two australians and we help them pull their luggage into the house. We catch up for a little bit, Lydia asks Emily to help her with moving luggage into her room which Emily agrees too. "So Arin, are you two official? Or what?" Steph asks nudging my shoulder. I let out a little chuckle "Yes, yes we are. After we got kicked out of champions league she flew over and we went out to the beach and it happened there. It was nothing fancy it was just us. The way i like it." i said smiling going back to that day in my head. It had taken me a while to get over the whole mapi situation. It was a weird time the Emily came along and we both haven't looked back. "Im happy for you two, mainly you Arin. You have grown up so much. Im excited for you." Steph said as she pulled me into a hug.

Later that night after everyone went to their rooms Emily and I laid cuddled up in our bed. "Im excited for tomorrow. Its only my second time playing overseas im nervous." Emily admits "Im nervous too but we got this. Its new for both of us. I will be right by your side." I say as she snuggles closer to me. "Lydia and Steph are really nice. Im glad I listened to you about letting them be our roomates." my girlfriend said as I played with her hair. We talked more about life and just relaxed for one last time. Tomorrow was our first training with the girls, and to be completely honest I was nervous when I went to Barcelona I wasnt super nervous but i think it was more because I was upset and I wanted to prove something. To mark, and to the rest of the world. With Arsenal its another experience to go on. Another league to concur. Emily got up to go to the restroom to get ready to go to bed. I sat and scrolled through Netflix looking for a show. Emilys phone rang. "Babe can you pick it up for me its Sam." she said I reached over to the other side of the bed to pick up my girlfriends phone. I answered the FaceTime from the USWNT midfielder "Hey wassup Sam!" "Nothing much I have something to tell you and Emily." she said. I nodded my head and called Emily over. "Wassup big head" emily said. "Shut up Em. Anyways I have signed to play for Manchester City!" Sam said with a huge grin on her face. "Really I am so proud of you mewy!" I said and Emily congratulated her. Can I add Mal and Rose to the call they already know and wanted to celebrate. "Sure!" Emily said and we waited for the other two girls to connect. We celebrated and talked until Mal spoke up "I have something to say too. I am signing with Chelsea!" she said and we all looked shocked. We congratulated her too. "IMALSOSIGNINGWITHMANCITY" rose spat out really fast. "Rose you are what-" my girlfriend asked. "Im signing with Man City too." she said. Sam let out a scream "OMG WE ARE GOING TO BE TEAMMATES AND ROOMIES AHHHH"  she yelled and we all laughed. The girls talked more while I went to take a shower. After everything I turned on Netflix and set my alarm for tomorrow. After about 5 minuets Emily was passed out next to me. I laid in bed thinking about tomorrow, I was scared nervous too. I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep hoping tomorrow would be good.
