"What? Can't I hold my woman?"

I'm his woman?

"Excuse me?" I raised my brows at him in disbelief of what had just left his mouth.

"What?" he literary shrugged, pretending as if he didn't say anything that was wrong.

"Your woman? I'm your woman?"

"Yes you are" he responded, pulling me closer to him. His eyes were looking behind me and I frowned in confusion before turning around...only to be met by a man.

"Welcome..." he began with a smile on his face. He paused, waiting for Jaxon to reposted to him with a name and he did.

"Mr. Black"

"Ah! Mr. Black and..." he paused turning to me. His eyes scanned my body for a second before he continued. "I'll guess it's...Mrs. Black"

And what he said caused me to sigh and send a small glare his way. Really?! Mrs. Black?! And yes, I was going to correct him so he won't ever assume I'm Jaxon's woman.

"Sir, I'm sorry to say you're wrong. Its actually-"

"Yes, it's Mrs. Black. And you are?" And I was cut off by Jaxon and gosh did he made me angry! So angry that I wanted to slap him so badly at the moment but we're really not in the right place to do that right now so...no.

"It's Mr. Caron" the man responded and shook Jaxon's hands right afterwards. He then looked to me and send me a smile, which I returned, before averting his eyes to Jaxon.

"So...Mr. Black, how come I've never seen you attend one of these parties?"

Jaxon looked stuck for a moment and I knew he was trying to come up with something to say and thankfully he did but what he said had only gotten me more annoyed than I was!

"Well...every time I come to Paris my darling here never wants me to attend these types of parties since she is afraid I'll get myself in some kind of trouble. I did say to her I would be very careful though but she never listened...until today " he answered before looking to me with a smile on his face and asked. "Isn't that right darling?"

And now it was my turn to try and come up with a valid answer that won't make us look suspicious and so, I did my part.

"Oh honey, you know events like these can be dangerous, and I would be terrified if something happens to you. I only wanted to make sure you were safe...where I can see you and away from trouble as you had said" I replied averting my eyes from him as I rested my head on his shoulders.

I later moved my eyes to Mr. Caron when he didn't say anything. He seems to believed us and that made me mentally sigh in relief.

"Well...there is an auction that is about to begin, how about you join us?" He finally changed the subject and I felt even more relief after this.

"Well lets go then" Jaxon answered and said and Mr. Caron smiled once more before turned around and lead the way.

Physically letting out a breath when his back had turned to face us, I averted my eyes to Jaxon only to see he was already looking at me. "Was that good?" I whispered and asked. A smirk slowly grew on his lips after he responded with "Not bad, darling"

Darling my ass!!

I rolled my eyes and removed them form him to the front. We were approaching a huge room that was filled with chairs from front to back. Those chairs were taken by people, making it difficult to find seats that were vacant but luckily, Jaxon spotted two seat that wasn't taken and we sat down right before the auction began.

"Welcome Ladies and Gents! The auction is about to begin" A man, dressed in a black suit announced, in a thick French accent and applause were heard from the crowd before the place become silent as a glass case, with a cloth covered over it, was brought out.

"Today's auction is on...A 50-carat diamond necklace, A pair of 1/20 carat diamond earring, A 20-carat diamond ring and a 40-carat diamond bracelet." the auctioneer said, removing the cloth that covered the glass case to reveal jewelries that were sparkling beautifully and it made the crowd gasped but damn, that has to be very expensive!

"We will start the bid at 10 million, do I hear 10 million?"

"10 million!" someone shouted from the crowd.

"We have a current bid of 10 million, I repeat 10 million"

"20 million!" Another masculine voice shouted from the crowd.

"We have a current bid of 20 million. I repeat, 20 million! Do I hear a higher bid?" the man asked, looking at the crowd and it went silent for a while.

"40 million!" Another shouted he was way up in the front and even though that was a lot of money, I do think those jewelries are worth more than that.

"Our current bid is 40 million! I repeat forty million!! Is there a higher bid?"

Silence again...

"45 million!" someone else shouted and gasps were starting to come from the crowd.

"45 million! I repeat 45 million is our current bid! Do I hear a high bid?"

The bidding went on for a little longer until someone bid 75 million and all that was heard were gasps before the place became silent again and honestly, I myself was shocked. I don't think anyone else can bid higher that this...

but of course someone had to prove me wrong!

"We're at 75 million, do I hear 80?"

Silence...

"I repeat, we're at 75 million is the bid, do I hear higher?"

The room was still in silence and at this time, the auctioneer decided to close the bid.

"75 million is the bid, going once!"

"75 million on these beautiful jewelries, going twice!"

"75 million to be the final price for these jewelries-"

"100 million!" someone shouted...

and it wasn't someone I was expecting at all!
