(Dedication for Nevermore by Kelly Creagh)

A piece of the porcelain creature
Lays shattered on the hardwood floor
A gaping crater takes the place of the missing piece
His cheek
Completely hollow.

With each move he makes
The empty structure he calls his body
Creaks as if it is an aged rusted gate.

Step,step
Even closer now.

Inky tendrils
Tipped with the color of lifeblood
Flop over his ebony eyes.

His smile is that of what is seen in nightmares
Two rows of shark like teeth extend from each side of his mouth
Each tipped with that haunting maroon color.
