WELL FUCKING SHIT.

Glenn and Dad paced around the area furiously as soon as the woman on the radio called out Maggie and Carol's names. Too much had already gone wrong. I glanced up as rain started to lightly pour from the sky. A pain shot down my leg as I adjusted my stance, tensing out of surprise when Jesus held onto my arm to support me. I glanced at him with a frown but he was looking towards the trees.

"What?" I whispered to him as that lady spoke through the walkie again.

"Now, we're gonna work this out right now, and it's going to go our way."

"They're in the trees Rick" Jesus called out, Rick nodding at him before looking down at the man with a snarl.

"Pick him up" he spat out, Glenn and dad not hesitating to yank the man roughly to his feet and spin him around to face the trees. I felt useless not being able to help. Rick lifted the radio up to his mouth, gun pointed at the man's head. "You can see we have one of yours. We'll trade."

Static hissed before her voice came back "I'm listening."

"First I want to talk to Maggie and Carol, make sure they're all right." Rick ordered through the radio, not taking his eyes away from the tree line. Even stood behind him I could tell he was pulling that face, he was angry that this wasn't going his way.

I squinted as my head started to feel a bit faint, looking down to my homemade bandage. Blood had started to seep through the fabric. I hadn't realised I was swaying slightly until Jesus caught me. Without a word, even as I quietly tried to deny his help, Jesus lifted my arm he had been holding over his shoulders. I tired to hide the relief I was feeling as I could finally get rid of the pressure off my leg.

"Rick, it's Carol." she sounded tired and almost weak, I couldn't help but feel more anxious about their predicament "I'm-- I'm fine, but--"

Dad swore loudly when Carol was cut off abruptly. I couldn't help but wish Dad would keep his cool, he usually made stupid decisions when he was worried and irritated. Aaron and I shared a wary look. Clearly he was thinking the same thing. The radio in Rick's had crackled to life again.

"Rick, it's Maggie." Glenn froze at the sound of her voice, it was clear to everyone that was scared shitless. "We're both okay. We'll figure thi--"

Again Maggie was cut off before she could say anything else. She sounded okay, perhaps shaken up. The rain started to fall a little harder as the radio crackled to life.

"You have your proof, let's talk."

As soon as she clicked off Rick had the radio to his mouth and was spitting out orders "This is the deal right here" his tone was low and undebatable, I couldn't help but think that it wasn't going to be that easy. We'd killed all of their men whilst they slept and had one captive, the odds weren't exactly stacked in our favour "Let 'em go, you can have your guy back and live."

"Two for one, that's not much of a trade." she sounded like she was mocking Rick, her tone condescending. I wondered if she was a leader of some sorts, most definitely hated.

"You don't have another choice or you would've done something about it already." Rick snarked, the space around us falling silent for a minute as we waited anxiously for a reply. When none came, Rick clicked the button again "Look, I know you're talking it over. It's a fair trade. Just come out, we do this, we all walk away." Still no response, he clicked it once more "Do we have a deal?

"I'll get back to you." The woman said quickly before clicking off the line.

I sighed, we needed to play this carefully and correctly but that was going to be difficult when we had too cannons that could explode at any second. Glenn was desperate for Maggie to be beside him, it was clear that he was regretting letting her come along with us despite making her stay behind. It would have been better for us all to have left her behind with Carl and Alexandria. I kept a close eye on dad, I was sure that I could stop him from doing something stupid - Glenn however, I wasn't so sure.
