Blackstar x Russetfur

Chapter 5

                    Blackpaw's POV

"Alright Blackpaw you know how to scent prey but hunting is a diffrent story" Rowanberry explained.

Blackpaw nodded. He was sitting beside Russetfur.

Rowanberry got into a crouch.

"This is a hunter's crouch you do this and lay your belly to the ground but you can't touch the grass or the prey will hear you got it?" She asked.

Blackpaw nodded "Got it."

She stood back up "good now you try."

Blackpaw slowly leaned down having his paws in front.

"Like this?" He asked.

Russetfur started laughing and Blackpaw fell, he burned with emberrassment.

Ugh that Hunter's crouch hurt! He thought.

"It's not supposed to hurt Blackpaw" she chuckled.

"She's right" Rowanberry said.

"It was uncomfortable because your forelegs were sticking out like a bird."

"Alright, I'll try it again" Blackpaw said.

He got down, this time he angled his shoulders so they stuck to his sides, it felt a lot more comfortable.

"Very good," Rowanberry praised.

He smiled.

"Now walk."

What?

Blackpaw looked at her "I'm sorry, what?"

Rowanberry raised her brow, "Walk."

Blackpaw nodded then slowly stepped forward, then fell.

Russetfur laugh even more.

Ugh, I'm so embarressed! He thought.

Rowanberry chuckled a bit.

"You did well, I think you need to take longer strides, so you don't trip over your paws" she explained.

He nodded, "alright, I'll try it again."

"No" Rowanberry shook her head.

"You've done enough for today, we'll head back and you can chill with your littermates for the rest of the day."

"Oh, alright" Blackpaw said standing up.

Blackpaw followed Rowanberry and Russetfur back to camp. When they got back, Rowanberry ran off with Nutwhisker.

"Well i'm sure you had a good hunting lesson" Russetfur teased.

Blackpaw blushed, "Uh I'll try harder next lesson."

"I'm sure you will" she smiled.

Lizardstripe walked pass Blackpaw.

"Hey Lizardstripe" he said.

She nodded to him and gave Russetfur a scowl.

Russetfur rolled her eyes, "I got to go Blackpaw."

Blackpaw said goodbye to her then walked over to where Flintpaw and Fernpaw were chating.

"Hey guys" he smiled.

"Hey Blackpaw" they said.

Flintpaw nudged him, "Hey I heard you had to go on patrol with Foxheart, that must have sucked."

Blackpaw sighed "It did, what did you two do today?"

"Crowtail and I cleaned the Elders den" Flintpaw hissed.

Fernpaw giggled, "Scorchwind showed me how to climb, I went half way up the Burnt Sycamore."

Blackpaw's eyes widened, "Wow."

Flintpaw shook his head, "Well looks like I'm the only one who had a bad day."

"Not really, I had to go on patrol with Foxheart" Blackpaw corrected.

"Fine Fernpaw is the only one who had a good day."

All three apprentices laughed.

Hi everybody, I'm soo sorry this took so freaking long! I had to do Christmas shopping, wrap up presents, and yesterday I spent the afternoon making a Ginger Bread House! I might not update another story until after Christmas sorry :-[
