Jon's pov

I think the Joker has it in for the Robins. No hold on. I don't think he has it in for the Robins, I know he does.

"What are we supposed to do? Gotham will be flooded with the Fear Gas if we don't stop it!" I yelled, the red gas beginning to creep towards the door. Robin grunted.

"Thanks for stating the obvious beloved." The ravenette said. I rolled my eyes.

"Robin I'm serious."

"I know you are, as am I." He said. "And so I've devised a plan to stop that from happening." I raised an eyebrow.

"Well what is it?" I asked. " 'Cuz we're running out of time!" I pointed at the countdown displayed on a massive screen behind us. Damian glanced around, locking his masked gaze on the control panel.

"The doors lock from the inside only right? And can only be closed once..." He muttered.

"Yeah, that's a big problem." I said. Robin quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me towards the door. The gas was creeping closer, maybe about a meter from the doorway.

We stood by the doorway. The short vigilante slowly removed his green domino mask and cupped my cheeks. I placed a hand on his low back and the other on the back of his head.

I rested my forehead against his, looking into his deep emerald eyes that I fell in love with the second I met him. They were wide and sparking with tears.

Before I could ask if something was wrong, Damian connected our lips in a passionate kiss. I kissed back, pressing the smaller male closer to me. With our faces so close, I could feel tears running down Damian's cheeks.

Why is he crying?

"I love you Jon, and I'm so sorry..." He said. I opened my mouth to ask what he meant but I didn't get the chance. Damian pushed me backwards out of the room. I landed on my behind.

"Damian what are you-" The ravenette smiled softly, pressing the button on the wall. The clear door slammed shut, locking Damian inside with the gas that began to build up. My eyes widened and I scrambled to my feet.

"Damain!" I cried, running up to the glass. I pressed a hand against it and began using my super strength to punch the wall. Damian watched me with sad eyes, planting both of his hands on the glass door.

"Damian! God no!" I cried, tears flowing down my cheeks like a waterfall.

"Jon... Jon please stop... It's not going to break..." He whispered. I could hear him through the glass. I refused to look into his eyes.

"No! It's gotta! Y-you'll..." I couldn't finish my sentence.

"Die?" Damian's voice cracked. I looked into his eyes. Tears were running down his cheeks.

"I know. I knew all along someone was going to die. Better me than you." He said softly. I shook my head.

"N-no! Damian please!" I begged. Damian smiled again. "It's such a horrible death!" Scarecrow said once that if a person is exposed to too much gas at once, it will kill them in an extremely painful fashion. The person's worst fear will play before them and kill them.

"Don't worry beloved. I'm not scared."

Damian whispered the words carefully, a painful smile still plastered on his face. His smile broke my heart. He coughed as the red smoke reached further up to his lungs.

"Would you tell father I apologise for every wrong I've ever done?"  He said.

"Damian, d-don't talk like that! I-I'll get you out of there!" I panicked, beginning to look around for something to use to break the glass.

"And if you wouldn't mind telling Grayson, Todd, Brown, Gordan, Cain, Father, Pennyworth, hell, even Drake, that I'm sorry and I love them deeply?" His voice was growing softer.

"No! I won't need to!" I shouted, tears flooding my vision as I tried using my laser vision on the door.

"Oh, and take care of my animals Jon. Make sure they're fed and cuddled regularly." He said, before launching into a coughing fit.

"I can't accept it!" I cried, watching Damian brace himself against the glass wall.

"A-and of course... R-remember I love y-you Jon... I-I love you a lot..." Damian said softly. The gas reached his height. Damian smiled softly, eyes full of pain. I watched him with hopeless eyes.

"I-I love you too D-Dami..." I breathed.

"Goodbye beloved." He whispered. His eyes clenched shut and he grunted in pain, inhaling the red gas.

Damian screamed loudly as he opened his eyes, fear shining brightly in his orbs. I covered my mouth as he slid down the wall in pain. I knelt leaning against the glass while listening to his screams over and over again.

The loud sound ripped into my soul. Damian began mumbling words and brought his hands to his hair, tugging at his black locks in pain. I just sat on the other side of the glass, watching my love scream and cry.

After a painful nearly ten minutes, Damian's screams came to a stop. He collapsed, lying on his side so his face was visible to me. His chest stopped rising and falling as the gas died down.

An eerie silence surrounded me, wrapping round me tightly like a cold blanket.

"Damian-" I barely uttered his name before I released a scream of pain. I leaned my head against the glass door, pounding on the glass, praying he'd wake up.

But it was no use.

Damian Wayne.

Was dead.

And he died in the most painful way. With visions only he could see that would literally haunt him to his grave.
