Damian's pov
I was cooking dinner while Jon was helping Colin settle in. I was half distracted while I fried food in a pan.
It's it a coincidence? Was he reincarnated? He would've had to die to do that... Why does he look... sound... act just like him...? I pondered.
I was so deep in thought I didn't notice Jon come up behind me until his arms were wrapped around my chest, chin resting on my shoulder.
"Hey angel." He mumbled. "Colin's worried you don't like him since you've been so quiet."
"Shit. I do like him of course Jon, he just looks and acts so much like Colin." I explained, exasperated.
Jon hummed. "Go talk to him. I'll take over dinner." He said. I sighed and set the pan down.
"Don't burn anything this time." I teased. Jon rolled his eyes. He slapped my ass and snickered. I glared playfully and exited the kitchen, tossing my apron onto a bar-counter seat.
I walked down the hall to Colin's room. I hesitated before knocking.
"Um. Colin? It's Damian." I said, not sure if I should use the dad title quite yet.
The door creaked open. Colin gazed up at me with familiar electric blue eyes.
"May I enter?" I asked. Colin nodded slowly and opened the door wider before flinging himself onto his new bed.
I sat down at the foot of his bed. Colin sat up against the head of his bed, hugging his teddy bear.
"I just wanted to tell you, I do like you. I'm extremely happy to have you as my son," I faltered. "You just... look and act like an old friend of mine whom of which I don't know what happened to." I admitted.
Colin was quiet for a minute.
"It's okay I understand. I'm sorry about your friend. I was just worried you guys wouldn't want me anymore." Colin said, avoiding eye contact and playing with the ear of his teddy bear.
"Don't think that. Jon and I do want you. There's a reason we went through so much to adopt you." I said.
"Okay! That's good!" Colin exclaimed happily. He reached over to his bag and held out a book towards me.
"Would you read to me? Please?" He asked. I chuckled and took the book.
"Just until dinner's ready." I got comfortable sitting beside him and read the title.
"The Magisterium (read these books if you haven't. I read them when I was younger and they are great!). Sounds interesting." I opened the book as Colin hesitantly leaned against me.
I shifted my arm to wrap around him as I began reading.
Ten minutes later Jon called us both for dinner.
"Thanks!" Colin exclaimed. I nodded. "Damian, what should I call you and Jon?" He asked innocently.
"Whatever you'd like." I responded, setting the book down and standing up.
