"i wish i were..."

after their cocoa powder fight, they finished making the hot cocoa and got cleaned up. the five then sat in the living room, while the adults sat in the kitchen cooking and having conversation.

mike was looking over at will and noticed he was wearing his sweater.

"so i see you're still wearing that." mike commented.

will looked down at the sweater, then looked back up at mike and blushed.

"oh, uh, yeah. it's really comfortable." will whispered.

their hands traveled closer and closer to each other, as well as their faces.

"i still have your drawing framed. i look at it a lot." mike whispered back.

will inhaled sharply as their faces got closer, and looked down at mike's lips.

the space between them got smaller and smaller.

"dinner, guys!" karen yelled.

will and mike jumped apart.

"come on guys, let's go." nancy said and grabbed jonathan's hand to pull him up.

jonathan and nancy made their way towards the kitchen with will following them.

mike started to walk away until he heard el speak.

"stop, mike."

he turned around to face her. "what's wrong?"

"that was a good effort," she started. "but next time try to actually kiss him."

mike looked at her, speechless, and she walked away with a smirk on her face.

during dinner, the adults talked while the kids just ate and shot glances at each other.

"hey, do you want to come see my room?" will asked mike after they cleaned up from dinner.

"oh, yeah, sure, i haven't seen it yet." mike replied.

will grabbed mike's hand and brought him up to his room.

mike looked behind him to see el give him a small wink.

mike sighed and followed will upstairs. he thought about how different will's new house was from his old one. this house had an upstairs and way more rooms than the old one.

once the two boys were upstairs, will pulled mike into the first room on the right.

mike's jaw dropped a little when he saw the room. it was bigger than will's old room and looked a lot different.

"wow." mike muttered.

"yeah, it's different." will replied and sat down on the bed.

"different, but nice." mike sat beside him.

neither of the boys said anything for a moment. will watched mike and he looked around the room.

mike saw pictures of the party, will's family, and them two together and smiled at them.

"nice pictures." mike smiled.

"thanks." will said.

mike looked will in the eyes and inched closer to him.

"mike, i really am sorry about alex." will apologized yet again.

"and i'm sorry for not trusting you. i know it wasn't your fault." mike murmured.

will put a hand on mike's cheek and and mike leaned in.

finally, after everything that happened, will and mike got to kiss each other again.

mike missed the taste of will's soft lips and will missed how passionately mike had kissed him.

"i missed you." mike pulled away.

"i missed you too." will rested his forehead on mike's.

even though they didn't say they were back together, both boys knew that they were meant to be.
