In the heat of the battle, nothing else was on my mind except protecting my family and the fight in front of me.

I hoped we'd all make it out alive but you can't always tell.

I wished we'd had more time to train. I was worried for my family.

And I wished my gift was stronger. Then this battle would have been over before it had even begun.

Yet she wasn't here, and that surprised me. Yet also made me feel suspicious. Where was she now if not fighting alongside her army.

I could only pray my brother was safe and keeping his mate safe. That was the point of all this.

Then suddenly, I noticed something strange from the corner of my eye.
