polaroid - an original poem

20 3 7

We smiled as you took the polaroid

And as if time was sealed in that picture, it stopped

Our eyes threatened with tears that would later be spilled

We were just children, living in today's world and not having to stress about tomorrow's

The tips of our toes glazed with the mid-morning dew from the grass we lay in

Our thoughts spilled out of our lips like the tears we now suppress

That was only in December.

Oh, but it feels like centuries ago.

Now we gaze at different walls, laugh with different people and smile at different compliments

Time has changed like the clouds - unpredictable and each day as different as the next

But one things certain,

We are still three

And that is eternal.
