drowning - an original poem

I'm drowning,

Sinking,

My knees bruised by seaweed

My vision blurring

I grasp for your hand

But it slips in my grip

I yell but it's inaudible

Water fills my lungs

The sunshine shines on the surface

Mocking, beckoning me

Just one last breath

My limbs feel lifeless

The last of my energy spills out

Like the remains of a hourglass

You were the only one to help me to the surface

But now you're gone

I'm drowning,

Sinking,

Under the waves.
