Can't we travel back to Summer '18

When all that mattered to us was the present

Our life at our fingertips

Our lips curled into smiles

Our cheeks aching from laughing so much

Now we don't even stop to say hi

We go on with our lives

Stressing about the future

Aching with heartbreak

Minds distant from one another

Slowly forgetting about each other

It's been a year now

Since we've last spent time with each other

And I miss you more each day

My memory of you growing distant and distant

When yours of me has faded into dust

I tried texting you this morning

I saw you read my reply

Is this really what we've become?

We used to be friends

What are we now?

We've become strangers

In a world of self-loathe and disease

Truth is

All that's been on my mind is you

And even a single hi

Would light up my life

Like you used to do

Is it really so hard

To face your past?
