Why doesn't Mal like being called short?

Because! For reasons!

It's because she feels like it makes her weak to be tiny. She has all of this power and all of this intimidation, but she's scared that being short undermines all that.

You're not supposed to answer that! This is my question! And besides, I was just thinking of some way to avoid that explanation. It's too soft!

Trust me, Mal, you're fearsome and absolutely amazing no matter what size you are.
