Y/N awoke as the sunlight filtered in through the windows, temporarily blinding her as she opened her eyes causing her to quickly blink in an effort to get used to sudden light. She stretched and rolled over, expecting to find Max still peacefully asleep beside her, but to her surprise, Max was gone, and a note was left in place of him. She gingerly picked up the note to read it. It shouldn't have been a shock to her, to find that Max had left to go to the factory, but she thought that he would've stayed home to be with her; it was her birthday after all.

With a sigh, Y/N trudged from her room into the kitchen to make some breakfast, ringing her family as she did so which cheered her up momentarily until the call finished and she remembered that her boyfriend had forgotten her birthday. Y/N and Max had been dating for nearly 8 months and she was positive that he knew when her birthday was because she knew that she'd told him. This was the thing about having a famous boyfriend because she could find out nearly everything about him online – forget his birthday? Google it. Want to know what country he's in? Google it. Whereas, information about her wasn't online with the exception of her social media which she kept private and she didn't post anything that often anyway.

Her mind was distracted when her phone rang and she raced to answer the call, hoping it was Max, but it wasn't. It was Louisa, Y/N's best friend. "Happy Birthday to you!" Louisa began to sing down the phone. A smile appeared on Y/N's face. Trust Louisa to cheer her up whenever she needed it. "So, any plans?" Y/N's smile disappeared, and she emitted a sigh, "Oh what's wrong, honey?"

"I think he forgot it's my birthday."

"No! No, he didn't. Did he?"

"I mean, he left for the factory this morning and only left me with a note to tell me."

"What a dick." A chuckle left Y/N's mouth and Louisa quickly changed the subject to allow Y/N to concentrate on something else, namely the girls holiday that they'd booked for Mykonos for next month between the British and Hungarian Grand Prix. "Are you alright, hun?"

Y/N let out a breath, "Yeah, no, I don't know. It's annoying. I remembered his birthday and I surprised him in Malaysia, but he's just forgotten about mine." Their conversation continued until Y/N heard the lock in the door jiggle and she quickly informed Louisa that Max was home and that she had to go.

"Hey babe! How are you?" Max walked across the room and bent down to give Y/N a kiss but she leaned back out of reach, Max stood up with a confused look present on his face. Y/N had never denied him a kiss before. "What's the matter?"

"Do you know what date today is?" Y/N asked without looking at him, she was concentrated on the wall in front of them because she knew that she would forgive him instantly if she looked at his face. Max raised an eyebrow and titled his head in confusion but he checked his phone anyway, "Yeah, it's the 13th of June."

"Does this day ring a bell, by any chance?"

"No, should it?" Max shrugged. He was getting more and more confused as the conversation continued, he really wasn't sure why Y/N was being so insistent about the date. He took one glance at Y/N to know that this day should ring a bell in his mind. It wasn't there anniversary; that was in October, and he was positive that they hadn't organised anything for the day. However, Y/N's ever reddening face told him a different story.

"It's my birthday!" Y/N stood up and stormed across the room to their bedroom, slamming the door behind her, so much so that the ornaments shook slightly from the impact.

"Shit." Max ran his hand through his hair. This was bad. How did he not remember that it was Y/N's birthday? He was positive that her birthday wasn't for a few more weeks as he had planned to take her out for dinner in London as they'd be there for the British Grand Prix. He sat on the settee, head in his hands, before jumping up and grabbing his keys, running out the door to get the shops before they closed. As he turned the ignition in his car, he quickly got his phone out and ordered a Chinese to be collected; his and Y/N's favourite meal, a Sweet and Sour Chicken. Once he arrived at the nearest Tesco, he made a beeline for the bakery section to get a cake but as Max's luck seemed adamant to curse him, there was no cakes left and he had to make do with some cupcakes.

"Y/N?" He gently knocked on their bedroom door and pushed the door open slightly to see her laying on her side on the bed facing the large open windows, "Y/N?" He heard her grunt in response and rolled over to eye him from the bed but made no move to invite him to come closer, so Max took it upon him to sit on the edge of the bed, "I'm sorry." He mumbled before saying it again but louder.

"I don't want to fight on my birthday, but you forgot about it and that really upset me." Max took a chance and moved closer to her and when she didn't object, he wrapped his arm over her shoulder, pulling Y/N into his chest where she lay her head.

"I got us a Chinese and some cupcakes." Y/N hummed in response but made no effort to move. Seeming happy enough to stay in Max's arms for the rest of the night. Max pressed a kiss to her head and rested his head back against the headboard, only lifting it when his phone beeped to read the notification. It was from Facebook. "Just got a notification from Facebook." He said grabbing Y/N's attention, "Happy Birthday Y/N." Y/N lifted her head off his chest.

"Fuck off." She wriggled out of his arms and left the room while Max lay there with a smile on his face, only moving when he heard the noise of paper being unpacked, "Don't eat all the Chinese!" He jumped from the bed and joined Y/N in the kitchen to eat their Chinese together.
