Chapter 7: playful wave and flustered butterfly

4:00 P.M.

Shinobu's shift just ended. She was so tired. She had one surgery and full scheduled check-ups. Tomioka informed her the day before that he won't be available to walk her home today as he has to meet some of his colleagues. It has been two weeks since Tomioka accepted to walk Shinobu home every day and the change of scenario is fine and a breather, but Shinobu know better.

"I wonder what he is doing right now..." Shinobu sighed as she gripped harder on the stirring wheel.

She can't help but miss the emotionally-deprived asshole, but of course the tsundere won't admit that out loud. There won't be someone she can tease senseless today, or just simply chat with. She's also alone for today and the rest of the weekend. Her little sisters will be staying at Kanae's for the weekend. Sadly, she can't come. Although it is her day-off tomorrow, it was a 6 hour-drive and she have a scheduled surgery the day after tomorrow; rest is very much needed. Shinobu did not bother to change her clothes when she plopped herself on her bed and fall asleep.

7:30 P.M.

Shinobu woke up 3 hours later feeling hungry and stinky. After taking her wonderful shower she went to the kitchen to prepare her dinner. It was silent, which made her think if her bubbly best friend is already in the apartment. She looks at the time.

That's weird, she's supposed to be here with Iguro-san now...

A moan.

Shinobu stopped her tracks. She was walking in front of her best friend's room door when she heard a moan.

What the...

Then a grunt and a louder moan.

Shinobu realized what was happening and hurriedly get her wallet, phone and keys. Fuck her hunger. She would endure her hunger longer and long line for take outs if it means she can eat in peace. Mitsuri must have assumed she's not around when they came because she was deep in her sleep in her own room.

The night sky was beautiful. There were no clouds that could prevent the stars show their beauty. Shinobu passed by the park that she first Tomioka do his daily jog. She decided to stay for a few minutes to gaze at the night sky and may take snaps of it.
She leaned o the parks' railing to support herself while she took a picture of the sky to send to her sisters.

"Kocho?"

Shinobu look at the source of the voice.

"Tomioka-san?" she straightens, "What are you doing here?"

It was like the night that he saw her in the park alone which lead to him walking her home every day.

Tomioka took a step closer to Shinobu, "Jogging. How about you?"

"I was about to take a dinner," her gaze was now back at the sky, "but the view here is beautiful so I decided to stay a little bit longer."

Tomioka was confused as to why Shinobu needs to have dinner outside.

"Aoi and Kanao is spending the weekend at my older sister's house so I decided to have a take-out instead of cooking. Besides, Mitsuri and Iguro-san are..." she trailed, recalling the sounds she heard earlier, "...having fun."

"Aa."

Surprisingly, Tomioka understood what Shinobu meant. Of course, he knows things like that, he is an adult after all. They stayed a little longer than they intended. The silence they shared were comfortable.

After a few more minutes, Shinobu straighten up, "Well, Tomioka-san, I need to go," she said looking at her clock, "I need to get food, the store is close to their closing time."
