Chapter 14: something's brewing

Tomioka arrived ten minutes earlier at the hospital. He waited for Shinobu in the lobby where there were many nurses the time he arrived. Not a minute in and he can already feel many eyes on him. He sighed. This is the reason why he always waits for Shinobu in his car.

A nurse took the seat beside him. Oh, he knows where this is going.

"Hey, there Mister."

Of course, they will flirt with him.

Tomioka acted like he didn't hear her and checked his phone. After a few seconds, he felt a tap on his shoulders. He knows this is the same nurse that tried to talk to him earlier. He still did not respond, thinking that the nurse will get a hint.

"Hey, Mister," she tapped her again.

He sighed internally. Tomioka acted innocently when he responded to her, "Is there anything you need, Miss?"

The nurse blushed at him, "I--uhh... Well, I was wondering if you umm..." the nurse was trying her best to recover, "Wanted coffee?"

Tomioka shook his head and returned to scrolling through his phone. He is doing everything to make the nurse go away. He doesn't want Shinobu to see him like that and get the wrong idea. Sadly, the nurse still doesn't get the hint.

Unbeknown to him, Shinobu clocked out five minutes earlier than she informed him. Upon reaching the corner, she saw the nurse flirting with Tomioka. Shinobu went back and hid in the corner, listening in their conversation. There was an unpleasant feeling in her chest when she saw them and it's annoying her.

"I was wondering if I-Umm... can I get your name?"

"My what?" Tomioka asked, obviously not listening to her.

"You name," The nurse winked at him.

"Why would you-" Tomioka stopped talking when he saw Shinobu emerged from the corner. He then stood up to greet her, completely forgetting the nurse that was flirting with him.

Hearing the nurse asking for Tomioka's name was the last straw for Shinobu. She wanted to rip the head off of the nurse and thrown it in a lion's den where her presence would be welcomed. She can feel herself fuming and she doesn't like it. Faking a smile, she slowly went to Them.

Once she was within reach Tomioka, she clung to him, surprising both Tomioka and the nurse, "I'm sorry for making you wait, Tomioka-san!" she acted innocently, "Are you ready to go?"

The nurse was embarrassed and Shinobu can see it. "Oh, hey there," Shinobu said to the nurse, "Is there something you need?" She was smiling but Tomioka and the nurse can feel the deadly aura Shinobu is emitting.

The nurse was sweating and shaking, "T-there's n-nothing I need, Dr. Kocho!" the nurse stuttered, "I-I'm so sorry!" The embarrassed nurse bowed, leaving them alone.

As soon as the nurse was gone, her aura changed. She can't help but grin at her achievement.

"Kocho," Tomioka was eyeing Shinobu the whole time.

"Hm?"

"What was that?"

"What was what?" Shinobu asked innocently, starting to walk to Tomioka's car.

"You know what I mean."

Shinobu gave him an innocent smile, "I was just merely helping you," Shinobu excused, "you look like you're having a hard time back there. You should be thanking me, you ungrateful bastard!"

"Kocho."

"What?!"

"You're still holding me."
