Professor Flitwick definitely knew what was up when Kendra (perhaps more suspiciously than necessary) caught up with him in the hallway and asked about the spell under the guise of having read it in a book, which she had, and wanted to learn it, which she also did.

She had close to perfected it, though it was difficult to test as none of her test subjects were exactly willing to stick their hand in the fire to find out. She managed to coerce Lisa into doing it after very casually mentioning that Krum had asked her for help finding something in the library and she could probably worm her way into his psyche enough to get in a good word for her. Lisa had sworn quietly, pronounced that she was over it and that she was going to be a nun instead, and then stuck her hand in the fire with no damage. Kendra hoped her nerves wouldn't get to her, though she doubted that she could perform under pressure. There was a reason she wasn't a Gryffindor.

She had proceeded to meet with Krum twice more, both of them very short conversations about how one would go about wooing Hermione Granger. Hermione had yet to say anything, so Kendra could only assume that Krum hadn't gotten the nerve to say anything yet. Though the part of her that enjoyed it when Hermione hugged her, or smiled at her, or wrote something for her, or really just breathed in her general vicinity, despised Krum, he was a decent friend.

Damon and Matt still weren't talking. Damon hadn't done anything about his father, not wanting to bother Kendra so close to the first task and not really wanting to get more people involved than necessary. He wasn't saying any of that, of course, but the comments on Draco Malfoy's hair had decreased significantly- a telltale sign that something wasn't right.

Harry had told her some of his plan to fight the dragon, or at least as much as he could before Kendra thought she would be sick from worry and begged him to stop before she threw up on her History of Magic textbook.

And that was how she ended up where she was, in the stands of and arena, Hermione on her right, Lisa on her left, her friends surrounding her. Her right hand was clutched in Hermione's and normally, Kendra would have been screaming (perhaps internally, but maybe not). She was completely focused on her breathing, trying not to pass out, and trying not to squeeze Hermione's hand too hard.

Cedric came out first. He did an amazing bit of magic, transfiguring a rock into a dog, something Kendra would have normally wanted to research all about, but the thought didn't even enter her mind as Cedric quickly sustained second degree burns all down his shoulder.

"Harry's going to be filleted," Kendra moaned and Lisa patted her shoulder comfortingly. They were all watching with wide eyed anticipation. Hermione's other hand crept up to her face, where her nails dug into her skin even so slightly at the thought. Ron was on her other side, and by his chalk-white color, Kendra presumed that he had long since forgiven Harry.

Cedric got the golden egg quickly after that and was ushered into the first-aid tent before he was given his score. After the sound of the cannon, Fleur emerged from the champions tent and shot a spell quickly at the dragon. The dragon, almost in a sort of trance, fell quickly into a deep sleep. Fleur had to scurry around the rocks to make her way around the dragon, all the while avoiding the fiery snores spitting out of its nostrils. She managed to get the golden egg as well, only singing her skirt, much faster than Cedric had.

Viktor was up next. He dodged the dragon's fire for a few quick steps, making Kendra wonder, a thought buried deep within her layers of panic, if he was showing off for Hermione. He shot the dragon with a spell right between its eyes, making it stumble backwards, blinded, and crushing half of the real eggs. He grabbed the golden egg with no injury to himself, and Lisa's death grip on Kendra's arm released, though Kendra quickly grabbed onto Lisa in return. It was Harry's turn.

He staggered out of the champions tent like a fawn who had just learned to walk, looking like a deer in headlights. Kendra let out a low moan of worry as she saw him stare down the dragon- by far the fiercest, most dangerous looking one of the bunch. It snarnled loudly when it saw Harry. Harry's brain seemed to kick back into gear at that point, and he hid behind a large boulder. The dragon's flame reached around the rock, getting it red-hot. Kendra couldn't tell if Harry had been hit by it, or if her spell had worked at all. Her heart was pounding erratically, her entire body felt cold, like the blood was draining out of her somewhere. She could tell Hermione had shouted something, but her ears were numb to the world. Harry stuck his wand up, pointed it towards the castle, summoning his broom.

"I'm going to faint," Kendra whispered as Harry dodged more dragon fire. Her nails dug into Hermione's hand as the fire hit his shoulder. He reacted in pain and a wave of dizziness hit her. She couldn't tell if she was just having a very poorly timed anemic episode, or she was going to pass out from worry. Either way, her spell had failed. She had missed a spot, the best case scenario, or her nerves had gotten the better of her and she had sent Harry out of face the dragon completely unprotected.

Lisa was supporting her back now, patting her gently between the shoulder blades in a pointless attempt to calm her. Kendra couldn't here what she was saying. She was hyper focused on the action in front of her, even though it made her stomach clench and quease and quiver.

Harry hopped on the broom, the adrenaline pushing him through whatever pain from the burn. He pulled off several dangerous looking evasive maneuvers and while the rest of the crowed cheered in amazement, Kendra clutched onto her friends so tightly her nails dug into their skin. And then Harry was swooping into the dragon's nest to grab the golden egg and Kendra's grip on her friends went slack as she fainted straight into Hermione's lap.

a/n: so dramatic 😒 jk, fainting spells are no joke, and neither are panic attacks. but idk how to go a whole two chapters without Kendra having some kind of drama with her body so here u go 😌
