Chapter 10- Arguments

Y/N's POV   

As we head back to our base, if I can even call it that, we just got here. I notice that Newt has something on his mind. He looks really upset but I did not want to pry him about it because of his outburst earlier. I feel like this is a bigger problem than Minho but I just decide to let it go... for now.

*Skip to when you are in the meeting room*   

"So, what's the plan?"

Vince, Jorje, Brenda, Thomas, Gally, Newt, and I all discuss what the plan is to find Minho. Vince is telling us that this is a crazy idea and we are risking everybody's lives just for one person. At this point I zoned out because I didn't really want to hear him talking about how dangerous this is going to be, I already know that. Teresa's name came up and I wondered if she was in the city, that ugly slinthead. I know she told WICKED where right arm's base was and people died while some of us were taken by WICKED. That is more than enough to know I don't like her. She is the one who got me taken from my friends and tortured for 6 months. She did this to me. I quickly snap out of it because I hear yelling. Newt is practically screaming at Thomas asking him if he is doing this for Teresa. Does Thomas like Teresa? If so, he might be a little messed up in the head. Newt then yells

"You afraid your little girlfriends gonna get hurt?!"

That answers my question. Thomas is in love with a bloody shank rat. He can't let his feelings for Teresa endanger everyone and get in the way of finding Minho. Newt pinns Thomas against the wall... why is that attractive? For the second time in the last few days I wish I was in Thomas's position. Gosh I really gotta get my mind off that right now because this conversation is escalating very quickly.

Newt screams "Don't lie to me! Don't. lie. to. me!"  right in Thomas's face.

Okay nevermind, I don't want to be in his position anymore. No thanks.

Newt's body relaxes as he realizes what he's doing and stands there in shock. He says

"I'm sorry Tommy, I'm sorry."

and slowly turns and walks out of the room. I recover from what just happened and follow him out of the room and onto the roof. Newt is sitting on the edge of the building with his feet dangling down which really scares me, especially because I know that he has jumped before and he doesn't seem to be in the best mindset right now. I slowly approach him as I call his name. He doesn't respond. I sit next to him and he looks at me with defeated eyes. He pulls up his sleeve and shows me his arm. I see dark veins creeping up his arm and I realize he has the flare. I hold back my tears and say

"Why didn't you tell me?" While trying to keep my voice from breaking, obviously I wasn't successful.

"I didn't want to accept that it's real and I really didn't want to worry you," He says. "But forget about the flare, we need to focus all of our energy on finding Minho, no matter what it takes."

He gets up and walks away.

"Newt"  I say, he turns to me. "It will be okay, I promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep." He says as he walks away. That's when the tears start to flow.
