Chapter 14

Kyra

"You're home early" Emilia said as I shut the door

"Hey, Em"

"You're skipping school?"

"No, I was accidentally hit by a soccer ball and the nurse said I could come home"

"Really?"

"Yeah"

"You could have called your brothers"

"I didn't want t disturb them"

"Or you wanted just wanted to spend time with Mason"

I blushed and Emilia grinned

We both walked into the kitchen where Andrew was teaching Brody how to make the perfect brownie batter.

"Hey" I said dropping my bag on one of the double kitchen islands.

"Hi" Brody said without looking up "let me guess, Mason brought you home"

"Yup" I walked over to Brody and dipped a finger into the bowl "yum" I reached for the bowl again but he smacked my hand away "hey"

Brody didn't say anything but continued to mix his batter, Brody was the only one with Lebedov for a last name who actually knew how to cook.

He turned around to get a pan and I quickly dipped two fingers inside the bowl

"I saw that" Brody said

"And you can't do anything about it"

He stopped my fingers before they entered my mouth, he swiped the batter of my fingers, he smiled down at me "you were saying?" I huffed, he patted my head with his free hand

"Let me go"

"So you can dip those fingers of yours into my brownie's? No freaking way" Brody held both my hands in one of his while he poured the batter into a pan, Andrew picked up the pan and put it into the oven then Brody mercifully let me go but not before inspecting my hands.

Allen came downstairs with a girl I had never seen before clinging to his arms like a leech, judging from the look on his face he'd rather be with anyone else.

"Ky, aren't you supposed to be in school?" Allen asked

"The nurse said I could skip the rest of the day"

"Why?"

"I got hit by a soccer ball"

"What?" Brody and Allen said together

"It was an accident, plus I'm fine now" I lied, my head still ached but my brothers didn't need to know that.

"Who's the asshole?" Allen asked

"It doesn't matter because I'm alright"

"Just answer the question" Brody said

"Mason" I said "you're not going to hurt him are you?"

"Not yet" Allen said, Brody stepped closer to me

"Your head is slightly swollen, are you sure you don't want him dead?" He said the last part quietly so that only I could hear it

"Of course I don't want him dead" I said flicking his forehead

"Fine, but if you get hurt one more time I will tear whoever hurt you apart" Brody said, I looked at my brother like he was crazy

"You're insane"

"Nah- I just love my baby sister" Brody said crushing me into a bear hug

"I'm seventeen, so I am no longer a kid" I mumbled
