Kyra

When Mason's fear became really evident I stopped making fun of him and stayed up with him because he was finding it really difficult to fall asleep.

"You know you don't have to stay up" Mason said

"I know but what kind of person would that make me if I didn't stay up to make fun of you"

Mason glared at me and I returned it with a wide grin. I got off my bed and dragged my comforter with me. I sat next to Mason who was sitting in front of my floor to ceiling window.

"What your favorite color?" Mason asked

"That's a really random question but it's blue, the color of the ocean"

"I thought it was grey"

"Favorites change"

"Any specific reason for the change?"

I looked up at him and stared into his eyes for a second and shrugged

"Why are you afraid of thunder?"

"Childhood fear"

"I honestly won't be surprised if you still sleep with a night light" I said and Mason smiled guiltily "Christ"

"You shouldn't have a say in this because you have two Tinkerbell night-lights" Mason said

"I actually don't need it, it's just really pretty"

"Uh-huh"

I gave him a look that shut him up

"What other embarrassing secrets don't I know about you?"

"I would tell you anything and you'd have to believe me"

"But then, you wouldn't lie to me"

"You sound so sure about that"

"Would you lie to me?"

"I don't have to"

"My point exactly"

"Point taken"

My phone rang and I reached up to get it from my desk but I ended up ignoring the text because it was from Harvey, another thunder clapped and I saw Mason shut his eyes repeating something over and over again under his breath. I reached out to him and squeezed his hand

Mason looked down at our hands then looked up at me. Thank the Lord I was sitting because the way he looked at me could've made my knees go weak.

Lord have mercy

I looked away and became really occupied with my pastel pink toe nails, Mason chuckled to himself

"Remember that morning I kissed you?"

How could I forget? I thought

"What about it?"

Mason kept quiet for about a minute keeping me in suspense

"Well?" I asked

"You're kinda cute and intimidating when you're angry"

"Um okay?"

"That's all you're going to say?"

"Until you tell me what's going on up there, yes"

"Am I that obvious?"

"Nope, but there are times when even the most blank expression is readable"

"Food for thought?"

"Nah, I just play poker a lot"

"You play poker?"

"And I win big" I replied "my grandfather taught me to play"
