"Walk of Shame"

When I came home I was greeted by my little brother. He was running towards me so I carried him and kissed his cheek. "How are you?" Tanong ko sa kaniya. He just showed me his toy and fiddled with my hair.

"Mamah." He uttered.

Simula nang dito na nanirahan ang kapatid ko. Wala na itong nagawa kun'di ang tawagin akong 'Mama', I was fine with it.

At first.

But he started addressing Theo as his Dad 'too.

"Dadah." Aniya nang lumapit si Theo habang may dala-dalang kawali.

"Hey." Theo scratched his nape. "Mom isn't here 'cause she went to a meeting with Dad and Lolo." He continued.

I just nodded at him. 'Di ko parin kasi ito napapatawad, at wala naman akong balak na patawarin siya. Oo, pahabaan ito ng pride. Mabulok siya sa pagiging gago niya.

"Oh, Dan. Since you're here. Why don't you join us for dinner? I cooked dinner, tamang-tama lang kasi kakatapos ko lang." Theo gave me a sly smile and scratched his nape again. This guy really think he could charm me with all his innocent smile, I know, nadala ko nung una, but I learned from the heartaches. At ayaw ko na.

What's done is done.

"I'm not really hungry." Pagtatangi ko sa kaniya. Shaking my head.

Theo opted for an "Oh." Then his attention shifted to my brother.

Suddenly my brother started crying, kaya ko ito inalok ng laruan pero ayaw nitong tumahan. "Your brother hasn't eaten anything yet." Theo murmured silently, looking at my brother. "He must be hungry." He added.

Napasinghal na lamang ako at kinarga ang kapatid ko at umupo sa dining table at samahan si Theo na pakainin ang kapatid ko. Napapailing na lamang ako habang nakaupo ang kapatid ko sa binti ko at si Theo naman ay pinapakain ito. "Do you like it?" Tanong ni Theo sa kaniya. My brother just nodded and called him 'Dadah' again.

"Anthony, stop calling him 'Dadah'."

"What's wrong with it?" Natatawang tanong ni Theo sa kaniya. Laughing slyly.

Natahimik na lang ako. Gusto ko sanang sabihin na ayaw kong tinatawag siyang Daddy kasi naiilang ako, dahil ang tawag din ng kapatid ko sa akin ay 'Mama' that just makes the both of us husband and wife.

And I don't want Theo to make fun of me for that.

And I don't want him thinking I think of those things at close curtains.

"Hey, anong problema dun?" Theo was chuckling and it seems that he wants to make me spill the bean.

'Di ko na lang ito sinagot. "Call me Dad again." Utos ni Theo sa kaniya.

Ako naman sana ang susubo ng pagkain para sa kapatid ko pero nabaling ang atensyon nito kay Theo at nagsalita sa kaniya.

"Dadah."

And he turned around and said, "Mamah" to me.
