Alex and Oscar were seated by one of the desks in the classroom. Oscar sat on the middle seat, writing something on a paper and Alex used his side as a cushion when she leaned back to throw a stress ball up in the air.

Avril walked over and took a seat next to Oscar which caused Alex to turn around. "What's this?" Oscar asked when Avril showed them her MP3 player.

"The future. I call it 'New Wave Goth Electro Punk'" she said proudly.

"Don't tell me you've been making music on your computer again. I just got my hearing back from last time" Oscar complained and Alex snorted in amusement.

"Do you wanna make funny comments or do you wanna listen to the most important track in history" Avril asked and Oscar reluctantly put the earbuds into his ears and Avril started the music.

"I would have gone with the funny comments" Alex said when she saw Oscar's expression but her concentration quickly shifted to the fact that the ground started to shake.

"Wow" Oscar said when things started to fall of the shelves in the classroom, "It's making the room shake."

"It's not the music idiot, it's an earthquake" Alex said as the rest of their classmates started to shout. A book fell from on of the shelf's hitting Alex in the head and Oscar didn't know whether to laugh or ask her if she was okay. "It doesn't really surprise me anymore" Alex sighed with an exasperated expression before she went down to hide under the desk to avoid getting hit again.

The earthquake wasn't long so the students sat up from their hiding places beneath the tables. The horrible sound of Avril's ringtone was the only thing Alex heard as she sat up and started to rub her soar forehead.

"Yeah. Okay. I will be right there. No of course I won't tell anyone" Avril said to the person she spoke with before hanging up, "Davina is trapped in the toilet. The ceiling collapsed" she said in amusement which caused Rose and Alex to laugh.

"Hey don't forget your MP3" Oscar tried to stop Avril but she had already disappeared around the corner.

"I can't believe it, football is cancelled. That's gonna put my training schedule right out" Donovan complained and Alex couldn't help but roll her eyes, this was after all the guy who was breathless after walking to school last year.

"Yeah, cause that's really important when we just had an earthquake" Oscar said.

"Isn't it brilliant" Rose said with a dreamy expression which caused everyone to look at her like she had lost it. "This is the first earthquake in this area for hundreds of years. Do you know how lucky we are to have been here when it happen."

"Rosy, lucky isn't really what I'm feeling right now" Alex said, motioning to her bruised forehead, "I think I have a concussion."

"We didn't need to be here. There have been tremors all over the country" Carrie, who had just arrived in the classroom said and when she saw Alex's forehead she couldn't help but let out a small laugh. "How do you always manage to injure yourself?"

"This time it really wasn't my fault. I sat completely still and the book just fell on me!"

"Sponsorship forms for the run" Mrs King said while handing out the papers. "Don't loose them. Davina" she added.

"Hey that's not fair. I never-" Davina said before she realised that she already had lost the papers which caused Alex to snicker.

"It will be an hour long and everyone will be running on the spot" Mrs King explained the run they were supposed to do in order to collect money for some charity.
