Andrew had been walking back to his room after a match earlier that day. The hunter Jack The Ripper was really on his game today— vice versa for the survivors— and crushed everyone mercilessly.
For example, Vera had gotten terror shocked, Aesop had been left to bleed out because he had made a coffin for himself, Victor's dog Wick had gotten hit whenever he tried to deliver a letter, and Kevin kept getting hit when he picked someone up. All that stuff was sort of rare to happen to those people, and it all had happened in a single game.
The survivors pulled themselves out of the grounded rocket chairs and started towards the nurse's office. Jack just hummed that same time to himself as he walked through the hallway in triumph.
Andrew was going to try to comfort Victor about the lose, but before he could turn the corner to get to him, he saw someone else run up.
He stopped himself at the corner and just watched the conversation from afar. Luca has gotten there first. He seemed genuinely worried for Victor, but was also congratulating him on how he at least tried his best.
He was a good friend of Victor, right? Shouldn't he be the one to help the postman and not the person who went to jail for murder? It just didn't feel right to him. He knew more about Victor than Luca did anyways. He'd be better at this, not Luca, even though that boy was more charismatic than he'd ever be.
Right?
Andrew was about to walk away when he felt his heart seemingly start to beat out of his chest. He cursed to himself as he looked down, seeing a pinkish light radiating from it. It was the same thing that happened to survivors when a hunter was close in a match.
He looked around, seeing if Jack was nearby. That would be the simple explanation. It turned out that Jack was nearby, but not close enough to cause his heartbeat to go off like that.
Not wanting others to see it, he quickly covered that area of his torso as he went off to his room. On the way, he felt someone tug in his arm from behind.
"You alright?" Luca asked, looking up at the pale boy. "How come you're in a rush?"
Andrew nervously looked away. How did Luca get over there so quickly? Was Luca following him when he tried to walk away? The heartbeat's sound and light wasn't as strong as it was when he was looking at both Luca and Victor, but it still worsened when Luca started talking to him.
"Huh? What's that?" Luca questioned, pointing to Andrew's hands and the pink light shining behind them.
"I-It's nothing," Andrew said quickly before walking off, quite fast actually. He got to his room and shut the door, immediately locking it.
He sat down at the desk in the corner of his room, putting his hands down to rest on the wood. The pink light from his chest shined down on the desk's wood.
Andrew sighed and looked up at the ceiling. He really hoped that this was just an accident and that it shouldn't have happened, but he knew he was wrong. Stuff like that didn't just happen for no reason.
"Lutz... why me?"
