As he saw through the emperor’s memories, the foreign leader had the same face as Ivanov; yet the personality was entirely different.

Humorous? No.

Easy-going? No.

Instead the man was quiet, solemn and very true and enduring in his feelings for the emperor.

Chen An never had the chance to see Ivanov shed tears, but he saw this man who looked like Ivanov cry. The leader gripped tightly the letter left by the emperor before his death, as silent tears trickled down his face.

And without another word, he turned and left resolutely, his troops gone with him.

Though the emperor was dead, this was the one man who’d always loved and trusted him.

It was Chen An’s last piece of memory before he lost his consciousness.

A flash of white light brought him from a crashing plane into a dream that was all too real; now another white light brought him from this strange world back to the reality that he was familiar with.

As it happened, Chen An’s thought was: so was this it? Could he now go back? Was it all a dream, or something that really happened?

The next time he opened his eyes, the first thing that came into Chen An’s blurry vision was a white ceiling. He couldn’t see clearly, as always, so he reached out for his glasses, only to realize there were a needle stuck into the back of his hand and an oxygen mask on his face.

Tilting his head slightly, he glimpsed an oxygen tank, other medical equipment with bleeping numbers on them, and doctors who were hurrying towards him anxiously.

“The patient is awake!”

This was the only sentence he heard before he again went into a coma. As he shut his eyes, Chen An prayed, please let this not be a dream, and please do not send me back to that maddening world again.

As it turned out, he was really back.

The plane indeed crashed in the Middle East. While there were several people on the aircraft, Chen An and Ding Sheng were the only ones severely injured. Ivanov and the others were merely scraped and took less than half a month to fully recover.

Unfortunately, Chen An was violently jolted out of the plane as it crash-landed and ended up in a coma. Ding Sheng was the one nearest him, and in trying to save Chen An, he was also badly hurt. Currently Ding Sheng was too in a coma, but he’d been fetched away by his family and taken to the United States to undergo treatment right after it happened.

Incidentally, on the same day that Chen An woke up, words came from the United States that Ding Sheng was also awake.

“Lu Feng, Chen Yang, come over here.”

After he woke up, Chen An called out to Lu Feng and Chen Yang; the hairy bear was also in the room but left out. Ivanov was not at all pleased with it, and was just beginning to have the sulk of the century.

Until he saw what happened the next moment.

As Lu Feng and Chen Yang excitedly hurried over, Chen An gave each a clear, sharp slap, and then asked: “does that hurt?”

The two was totally lost as to why they were slapped the moment Chen An woke up; still the joy and excitement at seeing him okay outweighed the confusion and annoyance.

“So I’m not dreaming, uncle; this is not a dream. You are awake.” Tears welled up in Chen Yang’s eyes and he cried without giving much thought to his image, half kneeling before the bed.
