Though Chen An had total confidence in Chen Yang’s ability to handle these family trivia, he nonetheless knew how ugly things could get.
T

ake someone they both knew as an example: Ivanov’s family was a grandee in Moscow, and he was not the only heir. The path of success that Ivanov walked on till this day was paved with the blood and tears of many.
Potential rivals in the family were either deployed to Africa to excavate diamonds, or sent to Europe and America to manage family assets. While the lifeline of the family, oil and gas, was firmly grasped in Ivanov’s own hands.
Both direct conflicts and behind-the-door conspiracies were not rare. But in front of power and interest, what is life, or morals?
Chen An did not think a small family like the Zhao could make much of a splash. Still, whether it was a Russian grandee or a rich family in a small village, where there was an issue of inheritance, there was always clashes, direct or indirect.
The way Chen An saw it, smart as Chen Yang was, as a college student who’d seen a little of society, he still lacked the cunning that could only be gained with experience.
“An!
Shortly after Chen An got off the plane, he caught sight of a car parked near the airport, while Chen Yang, who hadn’t seen him for a few days, strode towards him and took over his luggage.
On their ride home, Chen Yang recounted the happenings between him the Zhao Family in the past several days.
“When they heard I want a trading company, you should see the color on their faces! But what can they do? I’m the only heir now.” Chen Yang gently kneaded Chen An’s shoulders, and went on, “An, I know you are concerned about me. But I want to be able to solve my own problems.”
“So you know I’m concerned?” Chen An sniffed, “and still you refuse to let me help you.”
“An—,” Chen Yang looked down at the man’s calm face with his eyes closed as he tried to get some rest. The features on this face were not perfect, but pleasant to look at, and all the more mesmerizing because it was Chen An. Chen Yang’s heart lurched.
Chen Yang cast a quick glance at the light-colored lips of Chen An, and looked down. Then he said in a soft voice: “I want to prove myself, An. I don’t want to live under your protection all my life.”
“All-right, all-right. I get it. The birdling has found his own wings and can’t wait to leave the nest.” the man answered with a bit of petulance.
“An—” Chen Yang was amused; the man was having a sulk like a child. How could he be so endearing, so adorable?
“I think you are getting younger by the day, throwing a tantrum like that.”
“Who said an elder could not throw a tantrum? Well, well, I can let you spread your wings. Only remember, things that involves vested interest usually get dangerous, so do be safe. And if there’s anything too hard to deal with, you can always come to me, okay?”
Chen An opened his eyes, gave the smiling Chen Yang a glare, and threatened: “but if you try to hide things from me, or shut me out even when it gets too tough, don’t blame me if I lose my temper! Or shut you out too!”
Chen Yang wouldn’t dare or want to. He raised his hands in surrender: “have mercy on me, my lady!”
“What did you say?” Chen An arched his eyebrows. He was pretty sure he heard it right; Chen Yang just called him…my lady?
“My lady.” Chen Yang beamed, his eyes twinkling like two stars in the night sky.
It had been one piece of good news after another for Chen Yang recently. First, Chen An woke up from his coma; and then Chen Yang came to know that they were not blood relations, which incidentally removed the huge obstacle in Chen Yang’s mind.
After that, he came into an import/export trading company by inheritance. Admittedly he had some assets before that. Still, this company that he got from the Zhao Family had a solid, and long-standing foundation in the local area, with numerous clients and resources, which was not something that a young man like him could hope to get with two years’ experience.
And the resources and network that this company could give him were even more important than the company itself.
Chen Yang did not consider him outstanding now by any means. Still, he felt much more confident to make his intentions known to Chen An.
“Watch your mouth, young man. Who’s your lady? Got confused about the sexes?” Strangely, Chen An found himself a bit fluttery in the stomach: was the young man going to make a love declaration or something?
While Chen An was contemplating his own charms, Chen Yang chuckled and said: “sorry, slip of tongue. I meant to say ‘my lord’!”
“Smart ass!” Chen An rolled his eyes. If it wasn’t for the fact that Chen Yang was giving him a comfortable massage, he’d jump up and give the young man a thorough thump with his fist. What was getting into these people? Why were they all teasing him?

If Chen An listened to Chen Yang and let him alone, his moniker would not be “Old Fox”, it would be Hello Kitty.
Chen An could understand Chen Yang’s wish to deal with the Zhao Family by himself. That being said, Chen An was nearly bored out of his wits with nothing to do, not even having anyone going to the gym with him.
With Ivanov in Moscow, Lu Feng swamped with Group business, and Ding Sheng playing Captain America on another continent, the person nearest Chen An was Chen Yang.
An inconspicuous black car drove into a century-old campus. Along the road were plane trees, which scattered their leaves on the ground. Bright-eyed university students were walking with books in hand, or rode past on bicycles.
In the principal’s room, a kind-faced, old scholar were smiling a big smile at the cheque laid on the table in front of him.
“Much appreciated! With this fund, we can build a new library for the students. We’re really grateful, Mr. Chen.”
Pushing the clear lenses up on his nose, Chen An, who was dressed to look scholarly, answered politely: “the students are our future. To help them get more educational resources, or read more books, really, the honor is mine.”
“This is the first donation. When the construction of the library starts, and if everything goes well, there will be a second one. I want half of it to go to faculty research, and the other half can be used to encourage students’ innovation. Would that be okay?”
“Of course! In today’s society, not many people are like you, Mr. Chen. Rich people are abundant; though not many are willing to spend their money on education or research. On behalf of the faculty and students of our university, I thank you, Mr. Chen!”
As he spoke, the old principal tried to stand up and bow to Chen An, and the latter hurriedly supported the old man and said, “you are too kind! I have one more wish. I wonder whether you can grant it to me!”
“As long as it doesn’t go against any principles, I will do my best!” the old principal promised immediately.
Chen An smiled, and when he again seated himself down, he said slowly: “Rest assured, Principal. My wish is simple. The thing is, I’ve always had two dreams since I was young. The first was to become a scientist, but later I became a businessman. That’s why I want to put my money into research, because in another way, I’m helping someone to become scientists.”
The principal nodded, and chimed in: “in my time, when kids were asked what they wanted to become when they grew up, everyone answered ‘scientist’!”
Chen An went on: “my second dream was to be a teacher. I know a scientist needs more knowledge than I can ever hope to muster, but I think to be a teacher is still a dream within my grasp.”
Chen An laid the files he prepared in front of the principal, among which were various diplomas and certificates. Half of them were genuine while the other half were not, and Chen An was confident that they could stand the scrutiny of the old principle himself.
The Old Fox continued his speech in a keen tone: “I’m not a man of much ambition. But to be a teacher has always been my dream. How does my qualifications look for your university? I don’t care about the title. I would be content to teach a session or two each week.”
“Sure! You’re totally qualified, Mr. Chen!” the old principal were amazed: this was quite a CV he was looking at!
Not only for this university, it would qualify Mr. Chen a position at the top universities abroad. With such financial prowess, his rich experience and profound knowledge, Chen An, the old principal felt, would be a great help to their students.
“Really?” Chen An nodded innocently, and smiled, “I thank you for this opportunity.”
“And what kind of courses do you intend to teach, Mr. Chen?”
Chen An’s smile broadened: “PE, I think.”
In that way, he did not have to worry about exercising alone.
As a mental note, he should also mention to the principal, that he wanted to teach the class that Chen Yang was in. And if Chen Yang dared to skip his class, he would teach the young man a lesson!
“P..PE?” the old principal nearly fainted from the shock.
