chapter - 16: possession

"The photography club needs another member according to Miss Lim."

Beomgyu grins widely and Seungmin noticed. "I heard Ryujin already chose the Judo club." And his smile fade away making Seungmin chuckle at his obliviousness.

"Yeonjun hasn't chosen a club yet, right?"

Soobin stares at the girl with cornered eyes, before shaking his head. "No. Anyone but him."

Lia smirks at him. "He's a decent photographer. Plus he's friendly."

Soobin shook his head again, "no."

"Ah, why not~ " she whines grasping his arms and pulling on a cute act.

Soobin sighs, "no and that's final."

Beomgyu and Seungmin watch their little charade. "Is something going on between you two?"

Lia pulls away with a smile, "nothing!" But she sounds too cheerful to not be suspicious. Soobin only looked away and scribble on his notebook. "If you don't want Yeonjun, what about Kai?"

"No. Kai won't come unless ...."

"Unless what?"

"His little girlfriend is in."

Lia chuckles, "those two are too sweet for a pretend."

Beomgyu noticed Soobin had been staring at Lia with worried eyes the entire time. They all heard about the locker incident as they all probably share the same routine now. Yuna even stole Heejin's documents and Chaeryeong was in charge of reviewing them.

He clears his throat. "Break is almost over shall we get going?"

"Yeah, sure!"

As they walked together along the corridors, a group of students were gathered before the notice board. Curiously, they push their way in.

"Oh!" exclaims Beomgyu. "About time we all deserve a school trip."

"Haenam," says Lia as she points at the words. "Isn't Haenam all the way to the end of the country?"

"Looks like it," says Soobin. "What's worse, we're travelling by a metro. Which means we will change accommodation on the way."

"But wouldn't that be fun? We can make stops and get to try snacks too!" Only Beomgyu seems excited by the idea of traveling by metro while Soobin couldn't help but frown already. "Cheer up, hyung. We have the best and luxurious metro service in the entire existence of South Korea. It's ten times better than the plane!"

Right. Ace Academy is also very rich and offers luxurious services to it's students no matter what.

Lia walked away from the crowd and opened her locker, the one where they keep their books and stuff. Another red letter fell down. She tensed. But before she could bent down to pick it up, someone already did. Lia stared at Soobin who frowned at the paper.

"This is the second time," she just says.

He opens it and read out the words, “Find me. I cannot so you have to do it.”  A lowless chuckle escape his lips before he gives he the letter. "There's no this is Heejin. If so how can a dead person write a letter?"

"I dunno. But the handwriting is definitely hers."

"The gang wants to meet up later at a study cafe. I'll text you the address so make time."

She nods, "sure."

"Oi! Lovebirds!!!" Yeonjun cries from a distance as he and Yeji walked together, his arms around her.

"Speak for yourself."

"Did you see Ryujin today?" Yeonjun asks, quickly garnering the attention of one Choi Beomgyu. "She had a fight with Wooyung again."

"Why?"

"He was teasing her for getting soft and hanging out with us lot. Ryujin snapped. You know how annoying Wooyung is once he opens his mouth, right?"

Yeji noticed how down Beomgyu looks right then so she confidently pats his back. "Don't worry. It wasn't a serious fight."

Chaeryeong was in her quiet usual clubroom. In difference from the other groups, reading club is very eerie and quiet. She was going through the files Yuna significantly stole from the forbidden, praises to her dumb homeroom teacher.

As she was running her fingers and making down notes, something caught her eye. "W-why ....is her attendance still active?"

When students leave or in this case, dead, their files get deactivated like you would do with a computer. Basically, Heejin's been missing classes since she died(?) Chaeryeong gasped out in truth.

"This is crazy."

"What is?" Taehyun pops up behind her scaring the shit out of the girl. 

"Ya. Why are you here?"

"Because since Mina-sunbae figured you would overexert yourself with your studies and all, she left me in charge of distribution."

"Oh."

"So, what were you doing?"

"Looking over the files that Yuna stole."

"Oh."

"Come here, you gotta see this." Taehyun sits down besides her. "Heejin's report isn't deactivated yet which is basically a mistake or a coincidence?"

"Yeah, you're right. Heejin's good as dead but ....do you think they're hiding something?"

"Heejin's not dead." Someone spoke so distinctive that scared the hell out of the two.

"Professor Lee?!" they exclaim together.

Professor Lee is in charge of Science and Astronomy classes but he's also a scary guy. He crossed his arms ove his chest while his looks remained unfazed. "What do you think you two are doing? Stealing personal files from the school's property can get you suspension."

"Sir, we, uh ...."

"Professor, what do you mean ny Heejin is alive?" Taehyun intervene cause Chaeryeong us typically helpless when it comes to these types of situation.

"You little rascals have been investigating her death, haven't you? Well, I'm sorry to break it to you that you will never come to an end."

"Why?"

"Because it's impossible. There's no ending this. Some, very few have succeeded in bringing justice but no one has ever ended it."

The duo looked at each other. "Sir, why are you telling us this?"

"Because I've been in your shoes before ....and failed. I would hate to see you guys fail too. Heejin is alive but not present. It won't be long before she finds a body a borrow and when she does, it won't be the same anymore."

And just like that Professor Lee leaves the room. They rushed behind him but somehow he mysteriously wasn't there.

"What was that?" questions Chaeryeong.

"What? Professor Lee caught us red-handed or Professor Lee mysterious disappearance act?"

"Both."

"I have no idea."

"And did he said Heejin's gonna posses someone?"

"Any thoughts?"

Chaeryeong took a moment to think before she snapped her fingers. "Two, actually. Lia and Sihyeon. Lia's always affected by Heejin while Sihyeon went mysteriously weird."

"We should tell the gang."

"Let's go."

The two rushed back inside the clubroom to grab their backpacks and dash out just right after that.
