Angela's face revealed her surprise before she quickly came back to her neutral expression. Now, I was beginning to freak out, were they seriously gonna make me compete against him? I mean I didn't have the best physique, the only thing I was good at was running and Neil was good at everything sports so there really wasn't much of a competition here.
'And what happens to the other person?' I ask and Neil looks at me in disbelief, 'Are you seriously considering doing this?'
I don't look at him, my eyes fixed at Angela who keeps looking between me and Neil.
'The one who loses? Well that person works with the laboratory.'
Her subtle way of putting it masks the horrors of that place, the laboratory was where they tested their so called antidotes on people and there had been several stories that had flown out of this building and into the towns around.
'F-for human testing?' Neil asked, horrified, I wasn't the only stumbling on my words now.
Angela sighed, 'Yes'.
We both looked at the floor and I could hear the thumping of my heart and his too. We both looked at each other knowingly.
We couldn't do this to each other but we knew exactly what we could do and so we did.
