We were working on our mechanical skills today and had been training for the past 3 hours. Vicky had left us to go for a meeting and we had been drilling in silence, things had been awkward between us after the earlier conversation and I was happy neither of us tried to engage in meaningless conversation.
Neil had gone for a water break and I was struggling to drill deep enough as I kept losing my grip.
'Hey' he lightly nudged on my shoulder, 'I'll do this, you should get some water.'
I handed the drill to him mumbling a thank you and went to get water from the kitchen.
Sweat was dripping down my spine, the least I could do was wash my face, I thought.
God, I must be stinking.
I went up to the common room to wash my face.
On my way though, I heard Vicky talking to some officer.
I wouldn't have eavesdropped if I hadn't heard my name.
'What about her?' Vicky asked.
'No missing report, just one phone call a week back, no one's visited the house, it's quite surprising really. She does have a family but she probably disappears often which is anyways good for us, we aren't under the radar with her.'The officer told.
'Good, good' Vicky mumbled.
' Winters friend Zach though is another story altogether, that lad has filed a report with every police station he could find, it's hard to control him, we'll have to make him talk to Winters.'
'Hmm... I'll get him on call.' I was about to leave but luck wasn't on my side, like always.
'Oh and before you leave, you probably should know that a lady is standing by your door listening to us.' The agent coolly stated.
'Come here Jackson.'
I opened the door immediately, there was no escaping.
'Vicky I am really sorry, I-
'Never again agent, you hear me? Two more strikes and you're out.'
I nodded gratefully.
'Now leave.'
