The next few days went by. Word went around that an unknown soul reaper and his friends invaded Seireitei to rescue Rukia. She was currently being held in the Senzaikyu, the prison facility of Seireitei. Only weeks remained until her execution would take place for giving her soul reaper powers to a human. The group trying to save here were targeted as ryoka (souls that illegally enter soul society).

Renji was defeated in combat with the leader of the group who was named Kurosaki Ichigo. Captain Kuchiki had Renji sent to a cell, saying that defeat was not an option.

Since the attack, Captains and lieutenants were permitted to arm themselves with their zanpakutous at all times. Since I was under the watch of Gin I was permitted the use of my zanpakutou as well.

I trained during the day, practicing Shikai while Gin observed from the rooftop with his mocking grin. At this point, he was poking at my nerves, but it only fueled my will to become stronger so I could wipe that smile off his face.

I still had a long way to go until I could gain full control of Nagareboshi but I was making progress nonetheless.

This morning I woke to the smell of fresh bacon and eggs. The smell was so warm and enticing, it was hard to resist.

I looked to see Gin in his small kitchen area preparing the delicious breakfast. This was the first time he's been in the same room as me since he brought me here. Usually, he would be out doing whatever Gin does. At night was the only time we would be in the same room, but I pretended to be asleep so I could avoid him pestering me.

Gin's gaze shifted over to me when I propped myself up on the side of the bed. A tired look was visible in my eyes.

"Ah, did ya have a nice long cat nap, Neko-chan?"

I rolled my eyes to his tease. "Ya, I slept fine," I said with a hint of sarcasm.

Gin tilted his head as he walked over with a plate of food for me. I didn't take Gin for being a cook, but the crispy look of the red strips of bacon and the perfect scrambled eggs was all too much to resist.

"What's with the sarcasm Neko-chan~."

"It's nothing," I retorted, crossing my arms.

Gin chuckled, holding the plate with one hand while the other poked my nose.

"Hmm, that's unfortunate. If ya don't tell me what's got ya in such a sour mood I might not give ya this here breakfast."

My eyes instantly locked with him, a frown present on my face. "As I said, it's nothing and if there was something wrong it wouldn't be any of your business."

Truth be told I was sleeping less and less, trying to prevent myself from dreaming.

"Oh come now, Neko. You think I'm going to use your words against you, don't you."

I gritted my teeth and stood. I tried to grab the plate from him but fell short. He towered over me with the food over my head and a teasing grin.

"Hehe, it's much more entertaining to tease someone as short as you kitten~." He patted my head and I could only manage an irritated growl.

A smirk curled on my lips when an idea came to mind. I walked around him, my leg brushing against his clean haori as I made my way over to his walk-in kitchen. His plate of food sat on the counter and I took it in my hands.

He watched me walking away with his plate of food which I must add had a lot more than "my" plate did. "Neko, where do you think you're going with that?"
