"p-please stop m-mom... i don't w-wanna go in there again.." taehyun whimpered, trying his hardest to pry his wrist out of his mother's strong grip.

"then you should've studied harder! this is what you deserve! you're such a disappointment!" she screamed at him before shoving him into the dark closet and locking it, leaving taehyun alone inside of the dark closet.

taehyun cried and begged his mother to let him out. he never liked the dark. not even one bit. of course, his mother would leave the house with him alone, stuck inside of the closet for hours on end, no matter how much he cried, pleaded and screamed for her to let him out - she wouldn't listen to him.

he was only four when his mother threw him inside of the closet for the first time because he disobeyed her.

every time he had did something that was something along the lines of being against his mother's wishes, he'd get thrown inside of the closet and locked in there for hours until his mother had decided to finally open the doors and every time she did, he would have to kneel on his knees to apologize countless of times until she would forgive him, but, of course, with a harsh slap on the cheek.

"next time you better get all straight A's, got it?!"

"yes, mother."

all taehyun wanted was for her to show him love, but he never got it. even when he studied all night till he passed out and got an A for every test. she never even once smiled at him. she would only look at him with those cold emotionless eyes of hers and nod after looking at his report card.

taehyun did everything.

he cooked for her. he cleaned for her. he did all of the chores for her. yet, she never showed any type of affection towards him. taehyun never gave up though. being the young, positive and naive boy he was, he still tried to do every little thing for her affection.

"mom! happy birthday! i baked you a cake!" taehyun exclaimed, holding a cake that he had baked just for her. it was covered with chocolate frosting. he also used red icing to write 'I love you mom' with a heart next to it and lastly, it was decorated with colorful sprinkles. it obviously wasn't the best cake as he was only ten years old at the time, but he still tried his very best to bake one.

"tch. what the hell is this? i never asked you for this. get out of my face. i don't want it." she spat, grabbing the cake and throwing it onto the floor. taehyun frowned, trying his best not to burst out crying in front of her. "i'm going out. clean this shit up."

all taehyun could do was keep his head hung low and nod in response.

he had thought that maybe she would at least appreciate it and say thank you. he wasn't even expecting her to smile at him. that was all he wanted, but all of his hopes and dreams were all crushed that day.

it wasn't just at home that he had to deal with the abuse, he also was being bullied at school too.

sometimes he would just be walking alone, minding his own business and he would suddenly be cornered by bullies who would beat him up if he didn't do their homework or, sometimes, they'd start a fight with him for no reason at all and then, he would be shoved into the dark storage room and locked inside until a janitor came to find him.

taehyun developed his fear of the dark because of his mother and the bullies who would always shove him inside of a janitor's closet or a storage room. he would tolerate anything as long as it didn't involve him being locked inside of a dark room with no one but himself for hours.
