Its Thursday after school which means I have to go see Samantha, she checked in on me to see how I was on Tuesday. I go wait outside her office until she says I can come in.
"Hello Samantha how have you been this fine day" I ask extra happily, I'm in a good mood for once.
"I'm good how have you been Kaden" she asks getting her note pad and sitting on the chair opposite me
"I am fantastic, didn't get any homework today, all good lessons life couldn't be any better." I say smiling "So what are we talking about today" I ask
"Well I found out from your mother that you used to smoke as well, is this true" she asks. That's the one thing I didn't tell her
"Yes it is, I would go get high in the park with my friends, it was the best" I say, I realised that everything I say is confidential so she can't tell anyone. Which means I can say whatever I want without getting in trouble.
"Have you found it hard to stop or anything else since you've been her" She asks
"What no I'm not an addict like my dad" I say then cover my mouth as soon as I realised what I said
"Your dad, you haven't spoken about him yet. Any reason" she asks
"Yes, he is dead to me. I hate him and kinda wish he was in a grave, I'm not talking about it" I say looking away from her. Talking about my dad usually get me angry, the only time it didn't was when I was with Payton.
"That's ok, whenever your ready tell me. I'm here to talk about whatever you want" she says giving me a smile. I hate how nice and caring she is. I hated that about Payton but now I love it. Why does everything lead back to Payton.
"So when was the last time you drank" she asks looking up from her note pad
"If I tell you promise I won't get on trouble and I mean swear on my life promise" I say before I say anything else. She nods her head to indicate she won't "Monday" I say
"Ok that's fine" she says writing in her note pad again "can we try something for me" she asks
"Depends on what it is" I say curiously
"Sober up" she says and I look at her shocked "Don't drink for one month and I'll see what I can do in return" she say
"That's a big ask, I like alcohol a lot" I say " But I guess I'll do it, I know it will make some people happy so why not but only a month" I say and she nods
The two hours go by quickly and I make my way back to my dorm. I felt more comfortable in todays session and it wasn't that bad. I get in and everyone's their I go sit on the sofa next to Payton and get some of the food they ordered.
"I'm sobering up guys" I say and everyone looks at me weird
"Why exactly would you do that you love to drink" Liam says looking at me like I'm crazy
"Samantha that's why" I say rolling my eyes starting to regret my decision
"Who's Samantha" Maddie asks confused
"The counsellor I have to see" I say and everyone nods their head
"I think it will be good for you" Payton says and he pleases his hand on my leg and I get butterflies. Why, I have no clue.
After a while I go to my room and facetime everyone back home on the group chat. I fill them in on everything and they do the same. Esther and Kai got suspended for failing the alcohol tests they would make us three do. At one point it became a game to see who could get the highest, I won obviously.
"So your actually going to sober up" Jamie asks
"Yep" I say popping the p
"That school is really changing you Kaden" Kai says
"Only so I can come home permanently which might have to wait until after Christmas" I say. Truth is I don't really want to go home I kinda like it here.
"No I need you home now" Esther whines and I laugh. She's gotten worse since I've left, well that what Kai and Jamie say. She's drinking more and her mum wants to send her to a rehab in Florida. Rehab has never worked for her she's already been twice but gets out on good behaviour but the goes straight back to normal once she's home.
They all have to go so they can meet up so we say our goodbyes. I stay in my room and watch tv, Liv comes in so I can help her with something. I go to bed early because there's not much for me to do.
The next day is pretty boring. Normal boring lessons. Samantha decided it would be a good idea to see me twice a week now I'm trying to sober up, I agreed so now I see her Tuesdays as well.
I go to my dorm room and get out the books I need. I wait for Payton to get here so we can get started.
"I only have maths today" he says walking into my room and sitting in my bed
"I have maths and history" I say as I start my history "you can do whatever while I do this"
He lays down and watches tv. Half way through me doing my homework I hear light snores and see Payton passed out on my bed. I walk over and sit on my bed next to him.
"Wake up dumb fuck" I say shaking him awake and he slowly opens his eyes
"what a lovely awakening" he laughes sitting up, he gets up and sits at my desk
We get started on our maths homework, once we're done we chill in the living room and wait for everyone to get back. They brought back Panda express, we sat in the living room and talked while we ate.
"Time for the fun" Liam says grabbing his backpack and pulling out various alcohol
"Kaden go get your speaker" Liv says
"Only if I can play my music" I say getting up
"Sure" she says as I walk to my room
I come back with my speaker and put some music on. Everyone gets their drinks and I just get some water. An hour goes by and I'm getting bored, I get someone else to connect to the speaker and I go to my room.
I put my tv on and watch Netflix. The kissing booth 2 came out today so I'm watching both of them. I go get another drink and a snack before going back to my room. I put the movie on and twenty minutes in Payton walks into my room, he's not drunk.
"What you doing" he asks sitting next to me
"Watching the kissing booth" I say pausing the movie "why aren't you out their" I ask
"Its unfair that your sobering up alone so I'm not drinking as well" he says
"You dont have to do that" I say resting my head on his shoulder
"I know but I want to" he says "I've never noticed how obnoxious drunk people are" he says and we laugh
"Yeah but the can be funny" I say unpausing the tv "wanna watch it with me" I ask
"Sure" he says getting more comfortable.
We finish the first movie and put on the second. By the end of it I'm almost asleep, I feel Payton move and get off my bed.
"Where are you going" I ask tiredly
"I have to get the boys back to our door without getting caught" he says
"Good luck and goodnight then" I say
"Goodnight" he says before leaving my room.
I get changed and help the girls out. Once their in bed I get back in bed and fall asleep quickly.
