twenty-one

I wake up to the sound of my ringtone. I get out of bed and get my phone, Esthers ringing me.

"What do you want" I say moodily because she woke me up

"Hurry up and get your arse home" she says loudly down the phone

"Is that it" I ask

"Yes but I wanna show you something so hurry up" she says and I hang up.

I get up, get dressed and pack the last of my things. I say goodbye to the girls who have only just gotten up. I take my stuff and go to my car. I start the hour long drive, I stop for breakfast on the way but apart from that I was listening to music. I finally arrive home and park on the drive way. I walk in and go see my mum in the living room.

"Hey Kaden, how have you been" she asks

"I've been good, how are you" I asks

"I'm good, Esther's in your room  by the way" she says before I walk off

I go upstairs to my room and see Esther sitting on my bed. I put my bags down and flops on to the bed next to her.

"So what did you need so urgently, I'm surprised your even up this early" I say sitting up

"Oh I didn't sleep, but you know that house that's been on sale for literal years" she says

"Yeah what about it" I ask

"It go sold" she says

"That's it, that's the big thing" I say rolling my eyes

"No its who bought it" she says "C'mon let's go" she says dragging me out of the room.

We get in my car and drive to the house. We park on the opposite side of the road, we sit in the car and watch the house. After a while nothing happened.

"What are we waiting for" I ask

"Oh my god, don't you see it" she asks and I shake my head "That's your dads car"

"No its not, my dads car has a dent on the front bumper from when he ran over my doll house" I say

"I remember that, ok maybe it isn't him then" she says

"Ok let's go then" I say

I drive back to my house and start unpacking. Me and Esther watch tv, listen to music and make brownies. Normal brownies. We're in the kitchen talking while we wait for them to cook.

"I told Payton I like him yesterday" I say out of nowhere

"Really" she says in a weird tone 'Maybe I shouldn't have'

"Yeah, why" I ask

"I just didn't expect you too, you don't really do feelings or relationships" she says

"I know but I do like him" I say and the oven goes off.

She's not wrong, I'm really bad at relationships. 'What if I find some way to fuck it up, or hurt him, or he just stops liking me.' I try and put the thoughts away but I can't. I cut the brownies into squares and take a few for us. Jamie and Kai eventually come round and don't leave until late that night. I go on my phone and answer all my texts, apart from Paytons. I'm going to do what I do best, ignore people and push them away. I stay in for the rest of the day

(The next day)
I wake up around 11am and go get breakfast. I go to the living watch tv and catch up with Ava. I go back to my room and get ready for the day.
