He pulled back after a while and we looked at each other. Neither of us knew how to deal with our feelings, but we were both more than aware that they existed. And so, when he finally sat up and I shifted to sit on the actual bed rather than him, it was kind of awkward.

I knew I had to get out of there, and I wasn't going to wait for my secret anxieties to explode in my chest.

"I um... I hope you're feeling better," I mumbled as I got up from the bed. I didn't look back or say anything else, rushing out of the room and carefully shutting the door so that no one else would know I was in there. I went to my room and shut the door, locking it for all the good that'd do, then covering my face with my entire arm as I leaned on it.

Just as I was about to curse myself, I felt a hand cover my mouth so tight that I couldn't possibly scream even if I tried.

"Stay still or you're going to plummet to the depths of hell faster than I can catch you. Struggling will make it worse for you."

Sam was stood in front of me with his hand on my mouth and an intense look in his eyes. I just barely nodded, hardly able to do anything, so he wrapped his free arm around me, dragging me against his chest, and pulled me over to the open window. Next thing I knew, he had leapt out of it, wings flapping alarmingly slowly but still carrying us effortlessly through the red sky.

The clouds above were dark, but as soon as we passed them, they turned a white... as did everything else. I was blinded by the golden gates of what I could only presume was heaven. Two guards - both also with wings - looked me over before stepping aside.

Katrina was on the other side of the gates waiting for Sam, but they didn't share any sort of greeting. I was dragged along beside the two of them by my wrist up some pearly white stairs to double doors that looked very similar to those in hell, only these were made of marble and had golden accents.

"We only want to figure you out, honey, don't worry," Katrina assured with a fake smile.

I glared at her to make a point before turning back to watching where we were going. We ended up in a throne room cut off from anywhere else in the huge mansion, and the tallest, most muscular guy sat on the throne itself, which was beside two smaller ones. His wings were bigger than Sam's, golden accents trimming the edges.

"Good job, my boy," he said proudly as Sam pushed me forwards on the marble floor. I would have fallen down if I hadn't rememebered a trick from training. "You, girl, you are new to both hell and the devil's pitiful 'army'. Tell me, who are you and why were you allowed in?"

I stayed silent.

"No need to be shy, little-"

"I'm not shy," I snapped, glaring up at God. I didn't care how long the guy had been alive, or how powerful he was, I wasn't going to get pushed around by anyone.

Colby was my leader, and so I was going to be loyal, unlike Katrina had been. Heaven looked horrid to me, anyway.

"Ah, but you won't tell me anything, darling."

I still said nothing. God glanced at Sam and Katrina before standing up from his tall throne. He walked down step by step. I knew he was trying to intimidate me, and the only reason it worked was because he was so much bigger than me.

"I'm not somebody you want to disobey, girl. So you better start talking."

"Given up on the nice act?" I questioned, looking him up and down judgmentally.

He raised a single brow and glanced up at Sam, who seemed to nod. Katrina remained beside me while he rushed through the front doors, flapping his wings.
