How Ari stumbled upon the world of hell, where people are tortured left right and centre.
She doesn't know it yet, but she's important, and she's going to be the only one who can save the leader from tumbling into the depths of lava pooling at the...
Devyn's voice practically screeched as she ran into the house. It took Reggie and I less than a second to run from the library into the throne room where everybody was flashing.
I moved to the front of them all, taking Devyn's hand as she continued to hyperventilate out of panic. "Devyn! Devyn, talk to us. What's going wrong up there?" I asked as calmly as I could.
"G-God snapped. He really snapped. He decided that hell doesn't need to exist! He tried offering a place to everyone else but they said no so he said he'd kill all of us, starting with our king."
My heart stopped. I felt almost frozen staring at her. She meant to tell me that Colby could possibly die right now... and we weren't in heaven trying to save him?!
"Xepher," I demanded, turning to her. All I had to do was give her a look for a dagger to appear in her hand. She threw it to me and I caught it, pleasantly surprised. She had made it just right for me.

"It's great, thank you," I said quickly before tucking it into the top of my skirt. "Everyone needs to get their weapons, too, because we're going to go and get our king back."
"We can't fight God!" Tara exclaimed, pushing away the dagger Xepher held out for her. I gave her a look but she didn't listen so I walked up to her and grabbed her shoulders.
"He has Jake, too. Not just Colby. And Corey and Kevin. And Cassie. We can't just leave them up there to die while we... what? Do nothing? So get a damn dagger and move your ass. We're going to fucking heaven."
"But she has a point," Mike snapped at me. I barely even looked at him, grabbing Devyn's arm to drag her away from everyone else. They couldn't know my plan because it was risky, but I needed Devyn's help if it was going to work.
Tara's POV "She's in way over her fucking head," Mike grumbled as he fought the air with his dagger.
I ignored him for a moment, watching the way Ari was talking to Devyn. She didn't want anyone to hear her or be able to tell whatever it was they were speaking about... maybe she had a plan that required Devyn's help but not us, but what could that possibly be?
We worked together as a team in hell no matter what. Well, almost always. There were always people like Mike who decided to go against every decision we made.
"Do you think this'll turn out in war?" I asked Xepher quietly, staring at the ceiling. In all honesty, I was terrified. For Jake. For Colby. For hell. For everyone. We hadn't done nearly enough training lately and it was really coming to hit us in the ass in the form of heaven, which was almost all of our problems.
"No, not yet. If God kills Colby... well, Ari certainly isn't going to stand by and watch." And neither was I, but not even Jake's death would be a reason to go to war with heaven, which out-ranked us in nearly every single way.
