Arianna's POV
I was a badass. An actual badass. If I thought my life on Earth where I beat people up and got into fights for fun was badass, then I had another thing coming. I had wings, I could flash around - while flying sometimes, and I could produce any weapon in my imagination with the flick of my wrist. Not to mention my ability to hold fire. I wasn't even affected by lava at all: I was immune to heat. And I was loving my red-tipped hair.In addition to all the good things, there was one bad thing looming over my head. The coronation. More specifically, Katrina and I becoming queens. Now that God knew about Colby and I, I had no doubt that he'd rush into the ceremony and it freaked me out more than I cared to admit.
I was by far more ready to be queen than I ever had before what with my recent transformation... but I had barely any clue what to do when I was queen. Reggie had been giving me little lessons whenever he was free, which wasn't much - even less than Jake who was supposed to be doing the most of the work. Regardless, I didn't really know if I could effectively rule something as vast as hell so soon.
Colby was well aware of my worries, which was why we were laid in bed yet again in the middle of the day just talking about everything yesterday. He certainly knew how to keep me calm, that was for sure. He had talked me through the ceremony, my duties - which weren't that plentiful: it was hell, and he'd also told me about the benefits. I would be able to control the mindless, call on any of the army at any time, and control the powers of the demons. I was essentially the devil. I could even take souls.
"Still thinking?" Colby's voice broke me out of my blank stare at the wall as his fingers brushed through my hair and his arm wrapped tighter around me. I had my head in the crook of his neck whilst I sat on his lap. For the first time ever, we weren't actually in his room, but in the living room on his big comfy chair.
"Yeah, I'm still thinking."
"Well, you don't have to think for much longer." I frowned. "God won't have any sort of ceremony without an absolute guarantee that nothing will go wrong. There are still angel rebels out there and he doesn't want them to come crashing in and ruin everything."
"I forgot about the rebels." I mumbled as I pulled Colby's hand onto my lap. I started to fiddle with his fingers, letting my anxieties out. "Why don't we just go and obliterate them?"
"And have the ceremony sooner?" He chuckled at my face when I realised what I had said. My cheeks heated up with a blush as I covered my face with both of my hands and shook my head. He kissed my temple before shuffling me on his lap to be facing him. "I can always ask them to wait a while."
"It's not the ceremony that I'm worried about. It's what comes after."
"Ruling?" I nodded. "Well that's pretty easy. I do it, don't I?"
"True." I giggled as I leaned down to kiss him. My lips just grazed his when I heard voices from the throne room.
"What?" Jake asked kind of aggressively.
"We have a visitor... four, actually. Heavenly visitors." My body froze for a moment as I craned my head to look at Elton in the throne room with Jake and Tara. Four heavenly visitors could only be a certain few people. I quickly got up from Colby's lap ignoring the little groan he let out and walked through the archway.
"Heavenly as in..." I trailed off when Elton nodded his head.
"Go and let them in." Colby said sternly. "We're supposedly getting along now." I looked back at him worriedly but he didn't say anything, taking my hand to pull me over to the throne. I sat on the arm whilst he sat down and shifted to be comfortable. "It'll be fine, Ari. Why are you so anxious all of a sudden?"
"I just... things seem so perfect." He smiled as he kissed the back of my hand then used his grip to pull me much closer. A quick kiss later, the front door opened attracting all of my attention. Four heavenly white and gold people walked into the room, as we expected. God walked slightly ahead of Fate, who trailed by his side looking elegant and young as ever. Sam and Katrina followed them holding hands, though they looked the most nervous. To my surprise, there wasn't even a single angel guard in sight.
"Colby. I see you're comfortable as always." God's voice boomed, but it was different. He didn't sound angry or authoritative like usual, but instead he sounded amused and friendly like a normal father. "Any chance of a nice welcome this time?"
"Hell don't do welcomes, but you can have a hello and a wave." Colby replied as he lifted a hand for just a moment. God seemed to actually smile before turning to Sam, who quickly rushed forward away from Katrina.
"We have news that you may or may not want to hear." He said slowly, holding out a piece of paper with elegant writing on it. Jake took it from him and passed it to Colby who didn't even waste a second in reading it. I read it too.
Mission has been successful; rebel angels are no more.
My heart stopped in my chest. No rebel angels meant nothing else was in the way of the ceremony, which meant I would become queen much sooner than I thought. "Looks like everything's safe in the afterlife." God said slowly watching Colby's reaction. "You know what that means?"
"Yes, but we'll have to- "
I didn't know what happened but in the moment, my mind left my head. I found myself leaning over and whispering in his ear the words 'it's okay, we can do it' before I could even stop myself. The way he looked at me told me everything. He was surprised but a little happy. I gave him a little reassurance nod so he cleared his throat.
"Yes, I know what that means. I guess you'll have to get your planners on the case." God's head snapped to me partly in surprise as his eyebrows rose. He knew I'd accepted the position as queen.
"I'll get on it." Fate smiled. She walked up to the step elevating the throne from the ground floor and reached forwards without moving onto it. She managed to grab a hold of my hand which she used to pull me down to her level. I was trapped in a hug before I could even begin to move. "Thank you, Ari. You're going to be a wonderful queen." She whispered so only I could hear. I gulped and nodded, pushing her away before retreating back to Colby.
"You better all have some nice tuxes. This is the most important event you will ever go to." God spoke to the rest of the demons in the room - all of which were watching the gods and goddesses carefully.
"Have a nice day." Katrina added. The four visitors turned around fearlessly and began to head out of the room. I couldn't help but just stare after them. They were so so certain that we weren't going to attack them that they'd come without guards... I couldn't even imagine having that level of trust in a stranger, let alone a former enemy.
Only when the doors shut behind them did I feel like I could breathe again.
