"are you trying to fix it or make it worse?" Sans snapped at Grillby, who was gently caressing his cut with a damp cloth.

"How do you want me to do it, then?"

Sans huffed but didn't respond. Grillby brushed his cloth along his bone two more times, before looking at Sans. "When you do it... Because I guessed you do it after. Doesn't it hurt?"

Grillby was trying not to be invasive, but it was probably 3 in the morning and he was dying to go to sleep. The fact that Sans continuously snatched his hand away from him and cried in pain didn't help with his wish.

"when i cut i kind of feel numb anyway." He spit out the words. "i don't know how to explain it to you."

Grillby nodded. He understood and he didn't want to push Sans. After he bandaged the cut, they lay in Sans's bed, cuddling into eachother. Stretching as much as he could, Grillby put his glasses on the bedside table.

Sans finally chose to rest his head on Grillby's chest, as the second had his hand wrapped around the other's back.

"g'night." Sans whispered. Grillby, half asleep, churned around a little and hummed in response.

The two of them were woken up unexpectedly the very next morning.

"What is going on here?" It was Papyrus's voice. Sans couldn't make out if it sounded annoyed or worried.

He tried to get up and talk to his brother, but a hand was stopping him. He sighed and lifted just his head, so he could get a glimpse of Papyrus.

He was standing in the middle of the room. He had his backpack on, meaning that he had just returned from Undyne. He was tapping one leg, waiting for a response.

Sans smiled. "good morning to you too, paps"

Papyrus frowned a little and responded. "Brother, this is not the moment to tell me good morning. And I believe you do know I am waiting for an explanation."

Sans tried once again to get up, but Grillby's arm still stopped him. Oh well...

"paps, ummm...", he clapped his hands together "do you remember yesterday, when you realised i had a date... and i said it was a boy."

"Yes, but what does that have to do wi-"

Sans cut him of, and gestured in the direction of his sleeping lover. "behold,... my date!", he couldn't help but laugh when he said it.

"Grillby?" Papyrus's tone was neither surpised nor dissapointed. He said it like he couldn't see very well and wamted Sans' approval.

"yes." his brother responded, as emotionless as him.

Papyrus lowered his tone. "Did you... do anything in particular?". He was eyeing the bandage around Sans' wrist, but the other didn't realise it.

"no, this bed wouldn't have been standing if we did" Sans joked, but it seemed to get over Papyrus' head.

Before Papyrus could respond, Grillby turned a little in his sleep and suddenly hit his head on the wall. He woke up suddenly, blinking fast, trying to realise what happened. Sans stiffeled a laugh.

"What's so funny?" Grillby turned to him in annoyance.

"oh, nothin'. did my wall scare ya?"
Sans couldn't help but laugh now. Grillby was still mad that he was woken up so suddenly, but finally gave in to the laughter.

"Pass me the glasses?" He said to Sans and the skeleton did as asked. Grillby wiped them with his shirt before putting them on, his eyes falling onto Papyrus.

"Good morning, Papyrus, s-sorry for finding me in your house."

"it's fine" Sans chimed in, "i let you in didn't i?"

Grillby wanted to argue that Sans actually called him, said nothing on the phone, made him panic and run over, just to have to break into their house; well not really, the door wasn't locked; to find Sans covered in blood on his bedroom floor.

Oh, that's right, the blood on the bedroom floor. Grillby looked in the direction of the rug, to see Papyrus standing centimeters away from the dried stains.

Papyrus seemed to notice in that exact moment too, or, to put it better, he remembered why he walked in his brother's bedroom in the first place.

"Well, I just wanted to ask what is with all the sploches of blood in the hallway!"

He looked down and quickly added. "And in here, too."

"and in the bathroom." Sans put in.

"SANS!" Now Papyrus sounded irritated. "These will be so hard to take out of the rugs! Did you bleed all around the house just for the fun of it?"

Sans wanted to say 'yes' because it was kind of true, but he didn't. His expression however, changed into a sadder one. And even though his smile never dropped, Papyrus sensed something wasn't right.

"Sans, what's going on?". He got closser to the bed and kneeled down, so him and the sleepy couple would be on the same level.

Sans looked at Grillby. They exchanged a glance and Sans wanted to tell him something along the lines of "please make up a lie right now and tell it to my brother."

But instead, Grillby gave him a kiss and whispered close to his lips. "The truth, Sans. He needs to know it."

The shorter skeleton shook his head. He couldn't tell Papyrus the truth. The truth will break his brother's heart. And yet he had to. Right now. He had to do it.

"paps, i..."
Why did it feel worse when he had to admit it!?

"i'm not proud of this, bro. but i... i..."
He looked at Grillby again, tears ready to leave his eye sockets at any moment, but Grillby gave him a confident look that could be translated to "You have to do it yourself."

Sans sighed, only now realising how much trouble this entire ordeal put him in. He almost died from it. He had scars all over his arms. And now, he had to break it to Papyrus, too.

"i cut myself." The words left his mouth in one breath, soft like a whisper, but loud enough for Sans to imagine them hitting the walls of the room, occupying all the space around them.

"You WHAT?"

A/N: I tried writing this end note for 5 times now and I don't really know what to say in it. I really like the drama around here hehe. Oh, and I made the collage up in the media bar, (a little proud of myself here). And I wrote 1000 words again, yay. See you, dears!
