I was still unhappy with Zuko about his behaviour towards Song and her mother, as well as several other little things... so I spent most of our little trip chatting with Jin, catching her up with things, or discussing things with Iroh. Zuko eventually made nice to Jin, but she was her usual self. She gave no freckles. She had no concerns about saying what was on her mind, and every time Zuko tried his nonsense, she would put him in his place with a quick glare. I wish I were that cool.
"Blondie, I noticed you were ignoring Zuko," Jin poked my ribs, eliciting one of those undignified squeaks.
"Yes, and?"
"Why?"
"Cause he's a jerk?"
Jin sighed. "You're hopeless."
I grinned at her. "I know, but that's why you love me!"
"Sometimes I wonder...."
