IT WAS THE end of the school day and Lacie was walking home with Jane while Lacies sister LeAnn was behind them walking along side prissy with billy slowly behind the pair of friends
"Why did billy push you earlier today?" Asked Jane, Lacie shrugged her shoulders in a response of I don't know
"I don't know he told me I had to choose to either be friends with him or that new girl," said Lacie as she looked down At her feet, Jane scoffed
"Well... he does have a point Lacie," said Jane as she looked down, Jane knew that both of there Families wouldn't let the other be friends with the orphan girl, this made Lacie furious
"She May be a bad influence, but still I don't see any reason why we should be staying away from her... I mean... think about what's she's probably been through,"
Jane nodded her head, she didn't know what Anne went through, this made Jane feel bad
"Yea your right, I mean I want to be her friend but what about our parents? They won't even let her fraternize with us after what happened with prissy and mr phillips," said Jane, Lacie got knocked out of her thoughts as she looked at her best friend unlacing there arms
"What do you mean?" Asked Lacie as she stopped, prissy stopped as well along with billy
"Well at lunch Josie told me that Anne said something about you and mr phillips having intimate relations at lunch," said Jane as she looked at prissy while saying it, Lacie face palmed her face
"I told anne not to say it!" Said Lacie as she yelled out "that's it I can't trust her anymore,"
"This is what I'm talking about Lacie.. she's bad news!!" Said billy "gosh don't girls not understand anything?" Asked billy as he walked further away from the girls
He was very furious about what Anne did to prissy at lunch that he was going to give her a piece of his mind the next day

It was the next day and Lacie was walking by her self to school, she has also hoped to run into Anne to give her a stern talk about keeping secrets
As Lacie was walking through the dark forest she heard something, she stood behind a tree watching the scene.
"That's slander want to know what my parents do to people about slander?" Said billy as he kept walking closer to the girl who looked terrified as she walked back stuttering in her words
"I'm sorry I didn't mean any harm," said Anne as she managed to spit out
Before billy could say anything lacie got out from behind the tree
"Billy I can't believe you did that," said Lacie as she helped the girl up "are you alright?" Lacie said to the girl who nodded her head
"Thanks Lacie," said the girl as she smiled at Lacie, lacie did the same, meanwhile billy scoffed at the scene.
"Lacie why did you do that?" Asked billy as he laughed "she deserved it after what happened to prissy,"
"I know billy but pushing people and talking it out is two different things and what did you do? Push the poor girl," said Lacie "you know you really are a hateful boy,"
After Lacie said that a boy with curly hair arrived at the scene
"Hey Lacie, Billy, what going on here? Playing a game? Well I hate to break it up, we better get to class you know Mr Phillips Hates it when were late," said Gilbert
"See ya Lacie, orphan," said billy as he smiled and winked at Lacie while walking away
Meanwhile Lacie rolled her eyes avoiding eye contact with Gilbert by walking past him
"Gilbert," said Lacie as she walked away, lacie knew since day one of being in Avonlea that ruby Gillis has called dibs on Gilbert which was ridiculous to Lacie. But she didn't care she didn't want any trouble with the gossiping girl group
As Lacie arrived at school jane came up to her, lacing her arm with Lacies arm
"So why did you not walk with me to school?" Asked Jane,
"I had to make sure that billy didn't do anything stupid to Anne so I followed them, but I'll promise I'll walk with you back home," said Lacie as she walked towards prissy
"I'm sorry about what happened, I told her not to say anything," said Lacie as she hugged the girl prissy hugged back
"It's fine, I just wish she would just mind her business, I hope billy didn't do anything anne,"
"He didn't he just pushed her and said something about slander but I made sure he didn't," said Lacie prissy smiled
"You have a good heart Lacie, you and billy would be a cute couple," said prissy at this Lacie laughed
"Wait me and billy no never, I'm sweet and he's.... billy," said Lacie
"Well he has been acting strange lately, it's like he with us every 24/7, he usually hangs or walks home with the Paul brothers but he doesn't now," said Jane
This put Lacie in thought... did billy have a crush on her?
