"Why I feel like mommy did this shit?" I questioned my brother, Kyier as we started cleaning up the glass and everything from when my shop was broken into.

"You think so? We ain't hear from mommy in years — last time she pulled some shit like this was when she abandoned us." He spoke up sweeping my floor and what not.

I sighed, "naaah .. see remember that day I came home and my window was busted?" I questioned him and he nodded his head, remembering.

"Well that was mama, she had seen me outside ready to head inside the shop and she stopped me then started asking for money, saying I wouldn't be here without her.. etcetra so forth. I told her, I didn't have no money to support her drug addiction — I just couldn't do it. She got so mad saying she was gon ruin all the hard shit I worked for .. and honestly then I ain't take it serious, but here we are months later and my shop gets robbed .. it makes sense." I explained.

I could tell mentioning mamas drug problem was a soft spot for Kyier .. but it was the truth. He hasn't yet fully coped with her decision to leave us parentless and start dabbling into drugs.

After our dad died, mama went into serious depression, she was fucked up after his loss and it made sense cause we all were.

But it was like she hadn't properly healed and by my 13th birthday, I came home to an empty house and a note on the counter.

I remember exactly what it said.
