pete laughs quietly at his joke, gently pulling patrick along.
"pete, don't say stuff like that!"
"why?! it's not like it's actually going to happen!" pete laughs some more.
"well, no, but it's still disrespectful!"
"I don't see how it was disrespectful. all I said was, what if they did come out of the ground!"
patrick frowns, whining softly at pete. "but you implied that maybe they were never dead. which is disrespectful to assume someone would purposely bury a live loved one."
pete rolls his eyes. "'trick, it was a joke, no one has buried a live person here. and they sure as hell are not coming out of their grave."
"okay..., yeah," patrick mumbles, making sure to watch his step as pete dragged him along and through the cemetery.
patrick never liked coming to these places, hating the eerie feel, yet at the same time calmness all around him. the cold wind blowing in his face as the sun began to hide behind the trees.
"pete, watch out!" patrick says, pulling pete away from the pile of dirt lying in front of the unmarked grave.
"shit!" pete mutters, nearly falling into it.
"you need to watch-"
"what's that?"
patrick shakes his head, refusing to look further than pete's extended arm. "I am not falling for it, peter. it's getting dark, we need to go."
"no, seriously! 'trick, look!"
"pete, n-..." patrick stares silently, a bloodied hand scrambling to move from the pile of dirt.
fear takes over, and patrick is frozen still, shaking as the dirt moved more, a second hand pushing away chunks of dirt, rocks, and bits of grass.
"patrick, l-let's go." pete says in a shaky whisper, trying his hardest to pull his boyfriend back from the grave.
"pete, we can't..." patrick mumbles.
patrick's fight or flight instincts told him to run, and maybe he should, but he refused, and inches toward the hands.
"turn on your flashlight." patrick says, kneeling in front of the pile.
"what?! patrick, no! let's go!"
"pete, what do you think this is?! it's not a fucking zombie! turn on your flashlight."
reluctantly, pete came near, flashlight on, watching patrick help dig the dirt back.
"'trick, we should be going, not digging!""shut up, hold the light!"
~~~a couple of minutes pass before whoever was stuck, had been freed. coughing and gasping for air, a brown haired men lets out a hoarse, "thank you..."
they nod silently, watching the man. shaken like leaves, the two boys stare, wanting to know how he ended up in this situation.
once a breath was caught, and the stranger was removed from the tomb, pete and patrick helped him to a place for the night.
~~~"I'm glad we could help him," patrick says quietly, curling up with pete on the couch.
"yeah, me too, but that was terrifying."
patrick nods, holding onto pete tightly. "it was, but still, I'm glad we got him out."
"me too." pete mumbles.
shhh-
I know it's bad
