It was quite strange being around this many people. And while I'm sure it wasn't even that many people, it was for me.

I was still on high alert as I made my way to a bus station, following the signs on the road.

I knew I didn't stick out in my black thermal leggings and oversized flannel shirt, even though I had my long black coat covering me, so I tried not to worry.

"Hi, I need to get to Hood River, Oregon please?" I asked the attendant behind the counter.

He gave me a friendly smile, before looking down at his computer.

I heard him tapping away, before he looked back up at me, "quite a trip. You've got two change overs and it'll take about twenty-three hours"

I rose an eyebrow, this was going to long trip.

"Ok" I replied.

"You've got two hours until the bus leaves. Station two alright?" He replied while printing out the tickets.

I reached over and got the money out as he gave me the price and he passed me the sheets over papers which I put in my pocket.

I decided to go and find something to eat, and then a grocery store so I could have food for the journey.

As I saw the closest diner to me, I went in and sat at the back booth. I was a little overwhelmed right now and took a minute to try and calm myself down as I could see the clouds forming in the sky through the window.

"Hi honey, have you looked at the menu?" This older woman with a bright smile said to me, almost making me jump.

"Sorry, no not yet" I breathed, leaning forward and picking up the plastic booklet.

I ate the burger and chips slowly, it was quite nice. I even ordered a chocolate milkshake, which I ordered another one to take away with me.

The grocery store was quite interesting to say the least.

I sat right at the back of the bus, being one of the first to get on, and settled with my rucksack next to me as I looked out the window.

Leaning back in the seat, I yawned. I was very tired.

And then the next time I opened my eyes, the bus was moving. I panicked slightly, having no idea how long I had been asleep.

"You were out for about four hours" a voice said from across me.

I looked over, and instantly my cheeks blushed.

The man looked to be his mid twenties, with parted black hair, it looked very soft. I nodded, and cleared my throat.

He gave me a smile that made me loose my trail of thought. He was the other side of the back of the bus.

And each time I would glance over to him over the next few hours, he would always have a small smile playing on his profile, looking forward.

I looked out the window, and narrowed my eyes as I saw something higher in the sky, but still quite close to the bus.

Was that an eagle?

As I focused on it more, I realised it wasn't.

It was a very large tanned brown owl.

I watched as it glided away to the right, doubling back on itself. I put it to the back of my mind, and went into my rucksack to grab a drink and book that I had packed.

As we had a break a few hours later, I went and found a diner again and had something warm to eat, since we had about forty-five minutes here.

I looked around outside at the busy street, and that's when I saw on top of the building in front of me, the owl I had saw a while ago.
