Chapter Twenty - There You Are

"I'm just saying that it's probably not a good idea to travel during the day, when we could do it under the cover of night. Especially when there is a helicopter going around. Remember we don't even know if it's them. Could be some wildlife protection people" Jimin shrugged.

"I know Jimin, but it also might not be" Joon breathed out.

As they carried on deciding on what to do, I looked to my left up at Tae. His expression was hard, like he had something to say but didn't want to say it. He looked down at me, and right away his eyes softened. I watched as he reached over with his hand, and brushed his thumb across my cheekbone.

"I can push out, as we move, to see if anybody is coming" I offered, in the break between Jin and Hobi now talking.

Everyone looked over at me, and then Joon and Jin looked at one another, and Jin nodded.

"Get ready" Joon breathed out.

I changed my clothes, and put on my hiking boots. I threw my hair up in a bun, and put an put my coat in my rucksack. I could hear Yoongi and Jin in the kitchen as I went down the corridor, putting water bottles into each of the bags around them, JK grabbed a few and put them in the space around the pockets of my rucksack as I thanked him.

I was nervous.

And almost like Tae knew this, he pushed at me as he entered the room, and I could feel the flooding of glittering black around me, filling me with comfort.

Joon was the last into the room, as Jimin called out for him.

I watched as he went into the boiler room, and switched off everything. The whole room went dark, until he went up the steps and unlocked the bunker door, pushing it open.

Tae grabbed my hand, as we followed everyone in front of us.

Joon closed the door behind me, and the thick moss on top of the metal, blended in perfectly. I sent some vines and thick vegetation over it, and Joon gave me a little smile.

He looked up at the sky, and we all glanced up. Shasta was circling us, flapping his large tanned wings as he almost darted down to us.

"Let's go, Shasta" Joon breathed out quietly.

The second the words let Joon's mouth, the owl I had also grown attached off, darted to the left, turning his wings in a hard motion.

And then, we all began walking.

I immediately pushed out for miles, and could only sense the souls of animals around us, even the wolf with his pack mates, who were fast asleep in their territory.

We were all quiet, and nobody spoke for about three hours. I could sense that every single one of them were on high alert, I was more calm, knowing that I could search for miles ahead. And the fact that Tae hadn't let go of my hand once, I was also helping him feel more at ease, pushing my warmth from my chest to his.

"The car is here" Jin breathed out.

"Yeah I thought that was were he was leading us about an hour ago" Joonie muttered, as JK and Jimin jogged ahead to go and pull the tarp off from the car, scattering the rocks on top of it. I noticed Shasta starting to turn in circles, waiting for us.

Again I sent some vines and thick moss over it, I wanted to try and hide our tracks.

"Told you the people carrier would come in handy one day" Joonie said with a large smile. Yoongi mimicked him, making a few of us chuckle as he took the car keys from Joon.

We all filtered in, and I for one was glad that we didn't have to walk to where ever we were going.

"We will need to stop for gas in about two hours" Yoongi breathed as he settled in the drivers seat.

I sat in the middle at the back between Tae and Jimin, while JK and Hobi sat in the seats with Jin in the middle, in front of us as Joonie was in the passenger seat next to Yoongi.

After about an hour, Joon put on the radio was us to listen to, which was nice.

I took Tae's hand in mine which was resting on my thigh.

"You ok?" I asked quietly.

He offered me a small smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. I pursed my lips and squeezed his hand, pushing the thread between us, as the gold shimmer wrapped around his fingers that were touching mine.

"If we turn up at some abandoned house I'm not going in" Hobi breathed, and that made all of us begin to laugh.

I looked out of the window next to Jimin and saw Shasta keeping up with the speed of the car, using his wings.

I done a deep breath, and listened to the music filling the car.

We stopped at a gas station, of which there was a diner right next to it. I realised that none of us had eaten, and I knew my stomach was starting to rumble.

"Can we get some stuff to take away from there?" I asked nobody in particular.

JK looked over at what I was looking at, "I could do with a greasy burger"

Joon nodded at me, "order everyone some cheese burgers and fries alright?"

I gave a little smile as Tae took my hand as we walked over the small road.

I could feel all of the men's eyes on us, scanning around the surrounding area.

"Welcome guys! You sitting in? Taking away?" A bubbly middle aged woman asked as the door bell went as we came through the door.

I smiled, "eight cheese burgers and fries to take away please?"

She nodded, and called back to the kitchen.

"Take a seat, I'll bring it out to you when it's ready ok?" She smiled, gesturing to the near enough empty diner. There was maybe two other couples at the end of the diner and two young women near to us.

Tae was flexing his jaw over and over again, looking out the window as I put my hand on his thigh.

He put his hand over mine and gave it a squeeze.

"I know it's been flying low, for days. Driving my Aunt nuts, keeps waking up her baby" one of the women said from the tables a few over from us.

Tae glanced at me quickly. 

"Yeah, I heard it this morning" the other woman said, and as I looked over at her, she took a drink of her coffee.

Tae cleared his throat with a low sigh.

About five minutes later I got up, and told Tae that I was going to the bathroom. I could feel watching me as I went towards the left hand side of the diner, where the signs for the bathroom were. As I went past the few couples near the archway going into a small room with three doors, I offered the couple closest to me a friendly smile as we caught eye contact. I didn't want to give them cause to think that I was being rude.

As I washed my hands in the sink, the little flower that they had in the bathroom seemed to be whiting. And as I watched it rise up and it's petals start to open, I smiled.

Opening the bathroom door, I nearly gasped as I ran into a chest.

I expected it to be Tae, but right away I knew it wasn't. There was no pull coming from this soul.

"Sorry ma'am" the deep voice said, and I looked up to see the face of one of the couples from the tables.

I nodded, giving a polite smile before stepping to the side to go around him.

But as soon as his hand went onto my wrist, I froze.

I went to tug it away, out of reflex. Something was seeping into me, just from his touch and I realised it made me panic. I sense of dread filled my stomach, and a ice like feeling covered my body.

The three words that left his mouth next, I could tell he was smiling while saying them.

"There you are"
